This Week’s Bag – Week of 4/5/14 | The CSA Experiment

https://thecsaexperiment.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/this-weeks-bag-week-of-4514

Vegetables one week at a time. This Week’s Bag – Week of 4/5/14. April 7, 2014. I broke out my citrus juicer on Saturday and G helped me juice some oranges. There is truly nothing like freshly squeezed orange juice. I suspect that most of these oranges will also end up as juice. Both because I like it and because it is a fun, kitchen-related activity to do with my two-year-old. Fennel and Citrus Salad →. Suggested additions, substitutions or variations? Risotto Cakes | The CSA Experiment

https://thecsaexperiment.wordpress.com/2014/04/05/risotto-cakes

Vegetables one week at a time. April 5, 2014. I’m not a big leftovers fan. I really don’t enjoy eating the same thing over and over and over again. Since my husband doesn’t eat vegetables, this means that I have to be creative about my excess food. G eats like an adult even though he’s only 2, so that helps a lot, but there is still always food leftover from cooking. This Week’s Bag – Week of 4/5/14 →. 2 responses to “ Risotto Cakes. Fennel and Citrus Salad | The CSA Experiment

https://thecsaexperiment.wordpress.com/2014/04/09/fennel-and-citrus-salad

Vegetables one week at a time. Fennel and Citrus Salad. April 9, 2014. I mentioned in my last post about my skepticism about fennel. I have a pretty fierce dislike of the anise flavor, which always makes me think of the bags of black licorice you can buy at the drugstore for 99 cents. shiver . That being said, I kept seeing recipes with fennel and people. 1 small bulb of fennel. 6-7 leaves of chicory endive (or a handful of arugula). 1 TB olive oil. 1 TB lemon juice. Salt and pepper to taste. You are com...

Kale and Quinoa Salad | The CSA Experiment

https://thecsaexperiment.wordpress.com/2014/04/17/kale-and-quinoa-salad

Vegetables one week at a time. Kale and Quinoa Salad. April 17, 2014. Last weekend, when I was in NYC, I needed a quick bite to eat. I saw this place. And it looked perfect: light and portable. I gathered from the name of the place that kale played a big role in the food. I didn’t grasp that. Had kale in it including the quinoa that I ordered as a base to my meal. It was quinoa, raw kale, peas, carrots, and corn all mixed together and served room temperature. 2 TB olive oil. 1 clove garlic, minced. 6 Whe...

This Week’s Bag – 4/12/14 | The CSA Experiment

https://thecsaexperiment.wordpress.com/2014/04/14/this-weeks-bag-41214

Vegetables one week at a time. This Week’s Bag – 4/12/14. April 14, 2014. I’m really excited about this week’s bag. I love everything in it and can’t wait to devour the items. The grapefruit will become juice. That’s just the way that is going to work. And, of course the radishes. Excellent roasted, or, served with lemon cream. As I did last year. My mouth is watering at the idea, so that will likely be the fate of this week’s radishes. Oh. Now I’m really excited! Fennel and Citrus Salad.

Corked, Cooked and Claimed. Katsudon – a Japanese Dish. Katsudon – a Japanese Dish. March 14, 2014. In July 2013, myself and my husband, Dan, were in Japan doing humanitarian work in a town hit by the March 2011 tsunami. The trip itself was life-changing and we hope to return in the near future (once baby Delmater has made his or her appearance). It was also an incredible culinary experience. Japan is more than just a great place for sushi! And my take on it here at home. This past weekend, I finally mad...

Chicken Casserole | Corked, Cooked & Claimed

https://corkedcookedandclaimed.wordpress.com/2013/10/19/chicken-casserole

Corked, Cooked and Claimed. October 19, 2013. With the change of season comes a change of menu. As we close up our grills for the season, this is the time we start thinking of all of the wonderful soups and oven dishes we can spoon in while wearing our favorite sweater. My first cool weather dish was a delicious chicken casserole I made the other night. 6 chicken pieces, either 6 thighs or 3 drums and 3 thighs. 4 stalks celery- large chop. 5 med potatoes- chopped. 3 tbs olive oil. 3 cups chicken stock.

Lately, my everyday reality, however, is me clamoring over the pantry hoping to put SOMETHING together that everyone can and will eat. (Allergies and 5 year olds and babies, oh my! Corked, Cooked and Claimed. Speaker Mounts Cheap, Easy, Lazy Not my Best Idea. Speaker Mounts Cheap, Easy, Lazy Not my Best Idea. October 8, 2012. A trip to Lowe’s later I returned home with no shelves. Rather, I happened upon a display area for various types of velcro. I’m pretty sure a lightbulb flipped on above me as suddenly my huge project (for that’s what it is for me) didn’t seem so complicated as I was making it to be. My speakers aren’t that large! Here are a few tips to make sure you are party prepared:. Set the table the night before. Keep the bathroom guest ready. Make sure to stock up on meat when it is on sale. Sugared Doughnut Holes | Corked, Cooked & Claimed

https://corkedcookedandclaimed.wordpress.com/2013/08/05/sugared-doughnut-holes

Corked, Cooked and Claimed. August 5, 2013. My college friend and fellow curly haired girl Jodie Pizark assures me she “never cooks, or bakes or makes anything”, and yet she made these wonderfully delicious and photogenic doughnut holes. The recipe can be found at Taste of Home’s website. Jodie told me that she used a mold to make it. She even tried them again and filled them. Contest Winner Recipes →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. A year (or more) of local produce. Tuesday, November 17, 2009. These are some quickly-pickled cucumbers in cider vinegar, with one of those hot chilis sliced up in it. It was SPICY. The yard long beans. I cut these up into one inch pieces and stir-fried them with some marinated pork. Quite tasty. Cherry tomatoes sliced and tossed with salt, pepper, and some olive oil. And finally, the buttercup squash, roasted and then mashed with butter and salt. We want another one! Sunday, November 8, 2009. There was ...

Jump to main navigation and login. Perfect Summer in Connecticut! I hate to jinx it, but we have had a really long stretch of gorgeous weather in Southern Connecticut. It's been relatively cool with low humidity and really sunny! There have been summers when the idea of simmering collards, baking kale chips or roasting potatoes and squash is abhorrent. Heat up the house? But this summer all the endless possibilities for the harvest are at hand- I just love that! Here are a few of this week's menus:.
