Instead of thoughtful (if lighthearted) posts about the Renaissance Festival or the Demon Nephew’s birthday I started posting brief, ill-conceived updates. Last year I started ...

The Cynical Dog: I Say "Happy," You Say "Shoot Me!"

http://thecynicaldog.blogspot.com/2006/10/i-say-happy-you-say-shoot-me.html

I think it is the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately." - George Carlin. Sunday, October 08, 2006. I Say "Happy," You Say "Shoot Me! Then there’s the parents. They plan, they organize, they make a cake. They shell out a lot of money. And what’s the upshot? Because this isn’t about us, though, there’s no reason not to allow the kids a couple of hours to go. Lord of the Flies. On a wicked sugar high in a padded, supervised environment. If Demon Nephew gets...

I think it is the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately." - George Carlin. Sunday, September 17, 2006. The Minnesota Renaissance Festival is exactly what it sounds like: a plot of land set aside so people can dress up like characters from. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Not so much. A little Swedish, a little Czech, and a lot of Norwegian. The closest to Irish I get is whatever contributions my Viking ancestors made to the Hibernian gene pool—m...Oh, hi....

The Cynical Dog: I'm Sorry You Feel That Way by Diana Joseph

http://thecynicaldog.blogspot.com/2008/07/im-sorry-you-feel-that-way-by-diana.html

I think it is the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately." - George Carlin. Sunday, July 20, 2008. I'm Sorry You Feel That Way by Diana Joseph. There's nothing I can say about this book that hasn't already been said better by Very Important People. But I will add my endorsement. The essays in this book are funny, neurotic, and emotionally moving. Plus, it includes a dog having "relations" with a vocal stuffed animal. You can't lose. I Respect These People.

The Cynical Dog: Update

I think it is the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately." - George Carlin. Monday, September 17, 2007. A I seem to be doing fine without meat. This is unexpected, because I'm a life-long carnivore. But here I am, thirty-five days in and twenty pounds down. I can't say I don't drool a little when I see a Wendy's commercial, but I haven't felt the need to break the program. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I Respect These People. Philosophy, et cetera.

So I just finished reading the Introduction to the. Critique of Pure Reason. I'll abbreviate it CPR from here on out, because then I don't have to type it all every time, and because the initials amuse me), and I've decided I need to read the Introduction at least one more time before I move on to the body of the work.
