The Daily Charlie

Tuesday, May 27, 2008. Monday, May 26, 2008. I was taken aback by the sight of a squirrel, my arch enemy, on my back deck railing, peering into the kitchen at me.with my donut rawhide in his mitts. Gadzooks! How could that have happened? Friday, May 23, 2008. Orange w. Polka Dots. I got a new collar and matching lead. My staff picked it up at swanky Eye Spy. They were reduced by 50% because "Leslieville is not yet ready to spend ridiculous amounts of money on its dogs." Pfft. Thursday, May 22, 2008.

The Daily Charlie: January 2008

http://www.thedailycharlie.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 30, 2008. My sister Juniper has a very upset tummy. Apparently, a tin of salmon, no matter how well-meaning, can cause "scootch bum" (nice term) and "ring of fire" (crass term) for a week. Another trip to the vet, and a regimen of yellow and white pills. The yellow pills are bitter, and often don't make it past the goalie and down the pipe. I'm helping out with Juniper-bilitation. Tuesday, January 15, 2008. Sunday, January 13, 2008. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

The Daily Charlie: December 2007

http://www.thedailycharlie.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 28, 2007. If only I could tell her where it hurts and how much. I jumped out of my vehicle yesterday, but fell to the ground and rolled, twisting my right hind leg and yelping like I have never before. My staff was beside herself, since she bought the new but culpable corduroy coat that I was twisted up in.and because I was in pain. Sad. Ness. Wednesday, December 26, 2007. I can carry two cookies up the stairs to the office at once. It's a skill. Monday, December 17, 2007.

The Daily Charlie: November 2007

http://www.thedailycharlie.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 27, 2007. My staff is unstoppable. Normally, there is very little consumer purchasing action. But lately has been a boon. I encourage such behaviour, especially if it gets me new snowflake coats and keeps me in gourmet meatloaf. The newest acquisition is an extremely lovely oil painting by Miss. S, which has been installed in the redesigned bedroom. Me likey. Wednesday, November 14, 2007. Of mice and canine. Ich bin nicht eine Maus-er. Wednesday, November 7, 2007. Of mice and canine.

The Daily Charlie: March 2008

http://www.thedailycharlie.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 29, 2008. My staff received these gorgeous flowers for her birthday, from her friend K in NYC. Since there was distracting raclette at the party (cheese, potatoes, bread, chorizo, gherkins), Juniper was not taking running jumps at them, and the flowers have generously lasted more than a week. Spring is lovely, especially when it comes reluctantly, don't you think? Forty isn't so bad, after all. She had a very good month. Time to pass the baton. Friday, March 28, 2008. I made this snow cat!

The Krakow Files: January 2009

http://krakowfiles.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 25, 2009. One final note about my Christmas tree . . . Finally, somewhat desperately, we just dumped it in a pile of snow against one wall and took off. I then spent the next 40 minutes sweeping up all the fallen needles, so the trail couldn't be tracked to my door. I did consider creating a trail to another neighbour's door, but figured since everyone else keeps their tree up until the end of January, it was going to be pretty easy to realize the Canadian was the culprit. Although the Po...

The Krakow Files: Buty

http://krakowfiles.blogspot.com/2009/07/buty.html

Monday, July 6, 2009. I finally downloaded all of the photos I took the last few months I was in Europe and have spent the last few hours looking through them. This snapshot is for K and P who each bought something like 6 pairs of shoes while visiting me in Poland in early April. Oddly, I don't think I purchased even one pair in the entire two years I lived there. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). You can go home again. View my complete profile. Hi, I'm Jenn. The Krakow Files: Young Poland

http://krakowfiles.blogspot.com/2009/05/young-poland.html

Sunday, May 24, 2009. Last Saturday, on my flight back to Toronto, I spent a few hours reading about my favourite period in Polish art: the Young Poland. Movement. The book was a farewell gift from a friend and provides art and architectural examples of the movement in and around Krakow. Several of my favourite churches, galleries, and buildings were listed in the guide, and I was thoroughly enjoying reading about Krakow, when I turned the page and saw a picture of this guy:. Your neighbor, Sue.

The Krakow Files: February 2009

http://krakowfiles.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 23, 2009. My grandma has three children (all daughters), ten grandchildren, and fourteen (I think) great-grandchildren. In honour of her 90th birthday, many of us met in Toronto yesterday to celebrate. Not all of us were at the party, but it was the largest gathering of the clan that I can remember. My entire immediate family (parents, two brothers, two sis-in-laws and 4 nieces) flew in from Western Canada for the festivities. Sunday, February 22, 2009. Winter travel: Part 2. Then I was ...

The Krakow Files: July 2009

http://krakowfiles.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 26, 2009. Is the architecture in Krakow. I even sort of miss the cobblestones (although my ankles don't):. This art supply shop is located only a few steps away from my former flat in Krakow. I walked by it almost every day, always peering in the windows to see what was new, yet never actually going inside. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. I took this pic my last night in Krakow, at the flower market in the Rynek, and completely forgot about it until I downloaded my photos a few days ago. The first ...

The Krakow Files: October 2008

http://krakowfiles.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 20, 2008. Along came a spider. Hydrangeas have long been one of my favourite flowers. My grandparents had huge bushes in their front yard that bloomed unbelievably every year for over 50 years. I don't know whether it's the pinky, blue, purpley colour, or the memory of my grandparents that attracts me to the flowers, but I can't pass by them without stopping for a second look. The spider is barely visible, but if you look carefully you can just see the legs. Sunday, October 12, 2008.

The Krakow Files: Derek and Flannery

http://krakowfiles.blogspot.com/2009/05/derek-and-flannery.html

Sunday, May 17, 2009. Here's the first anecdote of many about Derek:. Soon after I moved to Toronto from Waterloo, Derek was accepted into the publishing program at Centennial College. We ended up being roommates, living in a 2nd floor apartment in an old house on Keele St in High Park. So Flannery she was, and still is. I can't imagine her as being anything else. Yet even though Derek gave me a Flannery O'Connor novel (aptly titled "A Good Man is Hard to Find") for Christmas that year, it was years befo...

The Krakow Files: You can go home again

http://krakowfiles.blogspot.com/2009/07/you-can-go-home-again.html

Sunday, July 5, 2009. You can go home again. I'm lying on the couch in my newly renovated living room. I've just cleaned it in anticipation of showing it off to my grandmother tomorrow afternoon. I guess I've been back in Canada now for 6 or 7 weeks and I finally feel like I belong here. Plus, it is summer and despite a strike by the city employees (creating mounds of garbage everywhere and shutting down public services like pools and ferries), Toronto is a pretty good place to be. The trees are gree...

David Moster's journey through the 929 chapters of the Hebrew Bible. Jeremiah 33 – Restoration for Jerusalem and the House of David. August 6, 2015 by David Moster. Successful Products factory in Cincinnati. I learned that making money is a lot easier than saving money, you can’t let early success get to your head and pull a MC Hammer and go out...
