The Daily Exchange

Printed newspapers are becoming an anachronism in the age of digital newsfeed, and most newspapers have shifted their focus on to the web. My degree project, The Daily Exchange, is the namesake of an 1800s Baltimore newspaper, and a semester-long process of mimicking that shift. Site set in Lora. Site designed by Jennifer Juang. Explores the history of Baltimore by mimicking the shift from print to web found in most newspapers today. Had a brief circulation in Baltimore from 1858 to 1861, I was interested in its political stance (pro-immigrants, anti-discrimination [racial and religious]), and thus relatively impartial reflection of life in mid-1800s Baltimore. Was notable for its adherence to an 8-column grid, which I thought would be helpful as I translated its content to the web. 2016 2017 Jennifer Juang.
