The Marchioness: May 2015
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. It's been raining a lot here. There was actually way more water in the basement than we realized, so as soon as Mom and Dad got home they had to move more furniture and re-vacuum the entire area(Dad also gave the gutters a much needed cleaning). Our basement was a mess. We managed to get it cleaned up just in time for the guests to arrive. One of the wild cousins. But also very cute. Alice in Wonderland dress, finally done. Conta...

The Marchioness: April 2015
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. When Caleb and I came home from church Sunday afternoon we found that Grandma had died while we were at the service. It was a momentous day: Grandma went to heaven, I found a body and called 911 for the first time. The ambulance came, two policemen and a detective(because it was an in-home death), and finally, the funeral home. That was an awkward call: Hello, I have a body in my home, can you come pick it up? One of the first ...

The Marchioness: June
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015/06/june.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Thursday, June 11, 2015. The emergency dinosaur order went as well as expected. Not a chance in Amazonia that any of those adults actually looked like dinosaurs, but it got done. Dino hoods for foolish adults. I'm also currently working on a cow. Cotton duck, extra-large shirts, pants, hoods and hand covers. The Woman of Energy wanted me to attach udders, but I very much hope that is not going to happen. Cow shirt with pockets! And that's about it.

The Marchioness: March 2015
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. I've been house-sitting for a few weeks and loving the high speed internet. Not much has been happening lately; at work the other day I broke a fingernail. It seemed like a big deal at the time. We're having a rush on Easter bunny and Easter egg costumes at the other job. I can't help but feel that whoever wears this is going to look very stupid. No; no, I don't think that's allowed. Again, no. And forever, no. During a shift...

The Marchioness: My Life this Summer
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015/08/my-life-this-summer.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. My Life this Summer. I got a new quilting book for my recommended reading list! By Barbara Chainey, 1993. I read a recommendation for this book on some other quilting website. It's a really cheap buy on Amazon! Using my butter churn at the Fort. Getting up early for work. At the costume shop right now I'm working through making non-essential items from fabric that builds up during the busy season. Easter bunny vests, bell...

The Marchioness: A Rendezvous
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-rendezvous.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Friday, June 19, 2015. Penny and I. New Green Dress Day. It was cold. Inaccurate for any time in history. I can appreciate the joy of getting away and participating in that type of rustic atmosphere(though maybe not for two whole weeks) but now that I've seen it I think my preference would be for military living history. All the tents were canvas with wood poles. Old Teal Dress Day, cooking over the fire. I'm soooooo susceptible to pottery; I love.

The Marchioness: December 2014
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Christmas Dress Blog Party. After ten years blogging I'm finally participating in something! Edelweiss Patterns Blog has been on my bloglist for a while, and this year Katrina is hosting a Christmas Dress blog party. I don't do vintage, but I did have a Christmas dress this year, and an event to wear it to. I wore the green linen/cotton Regency dress I made this fall to wear to the Omaha NE Fezziwig Ball. Every year our vo...

The Marchioness: February 2015
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Ups and Downs, but mostly Downs. That was annoying, and frustrating, and great motivation to keep working on my plans to find a better job. Meanwhile, at the other job, things are going ok, mostly because I work alone, and I get to mostly construct the costumes how I think best(it's hard to have trouble with that! And then to top things off, I got sick at work the other night; but thankfully I don't think my Manager noticed.

The Marchioness: July 2015
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Monday, July 13, 2015. We went on Vacation. The title pretty much summarizes the post, so now you don't have to read it if you don't want to. A bald bearded monkey and a bald beardless monkey. Everyone actually got to hold the baby, code name Monkey, and everyone is looking forward to the arrival of the next available baby, code name Banana. Everyone got a much needed back-rub. We ate a lot of food, and I think the Angel food cake was my favorite.

The Marchioness: A Colonial Long Waistcoat
http://emilyjoyd.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-colonial-long-waistcoat.html
Experiences of a small servant on a great adventure. Sunday, June 21, 2015. A Colonial Long Waistcoat. Earlier this month I finished the custom order of the early American waistcoat. The order was from a returning customer, Dan, who is very tall and a very good customer. He bought breeches from me last year and we've been corresponding about another project for a while. Dan wearing "my" breeches. Dan's Waistcoat on my Barbie mannikin. The buttons were pewter with star flower design from Jas. Townsend.
