TheDeeView: July 2014

Thursday, July 24, 2014. I wrote this a few years ago, but I just read it while I was enjoying (napping) myself in the mountains. Still true today.we are still classy trailer people. But of course I never yell at my dogs or my children! Connected . . . Weird. I now understand why the summer population drops to like 204 people. (But hey, you don’t need reservations to dine out! Yeah, that’s the ticket. Turns out, I was the chump. And did I mention the “Lake” thing? Turns out if you don’t buy a prope...

Sunday, September 1, 2013. Hawaiian Bread is a Gateway Drug. That Hawaiian Bread stuff! We had lunch with some friends in the mountains this summer and the mom made these DELICIOUS little sandwiches on Hawaiian Bread. Let me just say, I don’t want to be known as the piggy guest, but SHE DIDN’T MAKE ENOUGH OF THEM! My daughters and I grab these seemingly innocuous sandwiches off the plate, put them in our mouths thoughtlessly, (hey, we were at the lake – we had other things to do! What was I thinking?

It has everything.art, love, divorce, kids, angst, fulfillment, history, lesbians, crime, race relations. But it doesn't feel burdensome like a GREAT AMERICAN NOVEL.it just feels readable and intense and interesting. And I cared about the characters. China Dolls by Lisa See. My Life in Middlemarch. Shocking, cuz I usually muddle through everything. This? Such a fun e...

Pups in Tea Cups. Does your small dog run (outsiders may say ruin) your life? But I can't stop lovin' them! So here are stories of 'Littleness,' hope you enjoy. You would think after 8 years of college to become a vet that I'd have learned my lesson with little dogs. They bite. They are demanding. They take over your house and your life. Yet here I am with a twitter account and blog, typing whatever they ask me to type. Can you say dysfunctional? View my complete profile. Zero to Sold Trailers. You can o...

Jerry L Studio: March 2012
http://jerrylstudio.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 1, 2012. Dried Clay Tags Ready for the Kiln. In my prior blog, I talked about making ceramic dog tags to gift at Burning Man in 2011. I got the crazy notion to bring back a bucket of Black Rock City playa dust to somehow incorporate with the 2012 dog tags. That bucket of dust sat quietly in my studio for months. In December, I got out the bucket. I dumped ashes from the One Mile Clock into the bucket. I sifted both through a fine mesh screen. I now had 5 pounds of fine powder. I took a co...

Monday, July 25, 2011. House of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye from the Thames. This is the first time Doc and I have visited London without the jet lag battle. Generally, Doc is falling asleep over afternoon tea during the first few days of our London visits. This visit, Doc is also not haunting the house wide-awake at 2:00 AM. We’d been in Spain for two weeks and are well acclimated to the time change. How cold can it get? I absolutely love London. It’s the one city in the world IR...From Is...

What You Knitting Mummy? Knitting together Anglo-American relations one row at a time. Wednesday, 18 August 2010. What You Knitting Mummy?: May 2010
http://whatyouknittingmummy.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
What You Knitting Mummy? Knitting together Anglo-American relations one row at a time. Monday, 10 May 2010. 7 years ago out popped a 8lb 13oz baby boy 1 day past his due date. We screamed "it's a boy it's a boy, look he has a willy and everything". 7 years later and the boy wants a party to celebrate his birthday (and probably to get more presents) mummy is a tightwad (I should be the Scottish one in this relationship! Then later when all the boys had gone home the neighbours stayed round and we cracked ...
