James W. Dereniak was born in Detroit. He grew up in Sterling Heights, Mi until he moved briefly to Los Angeles when he was 19. He graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts and held a position within a production studio for several years. He currently lives in Ferndale, Michigan with Phoebe, a cat he rescued in 2010. He found her abandoned in Port Sanilac, Michigan. She had kittens and he kept one of them. Her name is Nelly.
