the delectable adventure: It's summertime: Cha'hlston Shrimp and Grits

http://thedelectableadventure.blogspot.com/2011/04/its-summertime-chahlston-shrimp-and.html

Sunday, April 10, 2011. It's summertime: Cha'hlston Shrimp and Grits. When it hits 80 and shrimp goes on sale, you know its time for Shrimp and Grits in the south! Everyone has their own favorite version of this dish - and Cory and I have several. We generally don't go for the heavy cream-based versions, opting instead for the more gumbo-inspired ingredients. This one turned out delicious! 6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and diced. 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced. 1 sweet onion, diced. 1 green pepper, diced.

Monday, March 21, 2011. Zoku season is back - Honey Cantaloupe Popsicles! Zoku Pops are amazing. We bought a maker last year after I unsuccessfully tried to recreate the infamous Nashville Las Palletas using a garden variety of Walmart/Target popsicle makers. I don't think I could survive another Columbia summer without a Zoku! We love melon Zoku pops, so Cantaloupe was an easy first choice for the season! Honey Cantaloupe Zoku Pops. Makes at least 6 pops). 3/4 small cantaloupe, cubed. My goal is to cook...

I have two finals next week - one on Tuesday and one on Thursday. And then it's done. Over. Summer will finally be here. End of the world?

As Southern As Possible: February 2011

http://southernpossibilities.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

As Southern As Possible. Monday, February 28, 2011. Counting down the days. With spring break approaching (but not quite fast enough), I'm literally counting down the days. Sometimes I count multiple times a day, just praying that time will have magically flown by and I will be one day closer to home. Yes, I know I'm being ridiculous. But I need a break! The beach - I. The beach so so much. I know there's a beach here. I know I'm still on the coast. But it is. The same. People bring sweatshirts to th...

As Southern As Possible: January 2011

http://southernpossibilities.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

As Southern As Possible. Thursday, January 27, 2011. No, I am not actually snowed-out of my apartment or anything like that, but this constant barrage of snow is becoming quite tiresome. I know it's my fault for moving to Boston from sunny South Carolina. I know I brought this upon myself. But if I had any idea it would snow THIS MUCH, I don't think I would have moved! I'm so looking forward to coming back from work tonight and making this hopefully delicious meal! Update: This recipe is DELICIOUS! 1 cup...

http://southernpossibilities.blogspot.com/2011/05/here-goes-nothing.html

As Southern As Possible. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. First of all, I hope everyone had a relaxing, happy, and fun-filled Memorial Day weekend, and I hope you all took at least a few minutes to remember all the men and women who have died to allow us to have our BBQs and beach bashes and potlucks. I wish I had a picture of my dad's face walking through the door, but I was told to hide behind a pole - better than in a closet! Was my dad saying, "I'm so glad to see you, but when are you leaving? http://southernpossibilities.blogspot.com/2011/05/end-of-world.html

As Southern As Possible. Saturday, May 21, 2011. End of the world? It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine. Keep on dancing til the world ends. We gonna party like, like it's the end of the world. According to some people, today is the end of the world. The Mayans said it would happen next year in 2012. So who is right? Shopping on Newbury Street. It'll be nice to get out of the apartment, get some fresh air, and maybe spend a little money! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Delectable Delight

Close encounters of a delicious kind. Vue De Monde, Melbourne. Posted by Miss Honey. Have just returned from a fun trip to Melbourne! Anyway, back to the food, we booked a lunch at Vue De Monde, so we could save the night for a wine bar. It was a wonderful dining experience, I can see why it's so highly rated. If we had the time I would have been tempted by their custom degustation menu at night, where they tailor the degustation depending on what you feel like. Salt, Pepper, Butter. Joue De Veau Braisée.
