What We’re Reading. It’s Time For a Guest Blogger Rant. From Our Guest Bloggers. Four years ago, the summer before I began my MLIS program, I attended a one-day workshop on book conservation. It was practical as well as theoretical and by the end of the day we had each constructed our own enclosure. Repaired ailing pages, and learned a few other techniques for basic maintenance and repair. But, in order to repair a book it must first be damaged. A book from the Governors Island Uni. Eat, Pray, Love.

What We’re Reading. July Guest Blogger: Leigh Hurwitz. From Our Guest Bloggers. New York Public Library. Greetings, Desk Settians! Allow me to introduce myself as the Guest Blogger for July. I have a luxurious five weeks in which to thrill you so I’m going to pace myself and start with the basics about who I am and what I am doing here. Although I get up to many library-related hijinks, the focus of these posts (unless I veer off) will be on my work as a librarian with the The Uni Project. Sam is also a ...

Wherewith will we find images?

http://thedeskset.org/wherewith-will-we-find-images

What We’re Reading. Wherewith will we find images? From Our Guest Bloggers. What is the relationship between Art and Technology, specifically what does art and art history offer technology? I was recently posed this question and asked to present on my answer. At first I was a bit stumped what do they even mean! When I started working, I was mostly talking about all the things that technology was offering to Art History: digital libraries, digital humanities, digital other things! Libraries spend a good d...
