Sunday, February 8, 2015. 1922 Robe de Style. For this year's Historical Ball at Historic Locust Grove, I decided I would make a gown I'd been in love with forever and vowed to make if I ever got into the 1920's: this 1922 Robe de Style. I also turned 21 this January, so I thought it would be a cute item to wear when visiting a prohibition-style museum in Louisville for prolonging the birthday celebrations. Oh, but wait. I know nothing about the 20's! Silly face costume pictures are my forte! I then went...

Saturday, December 7, 2013. Historical Sew Fortnightly Challenge #24: Re-do. Hopefully they'll last me for a long time, because I really did not enjoy working on them. Right now they're wearable, however I will be adding an extra eyelet in the straps and possibly a small pad so that the "girls" don't shift during flight ;) This is my late entry for the 24th HSF challenge! The Challenge(s) you are re-doing:. 1: Bicentennial: These were made with the years 1810-1820 in mind, so they're good to go for 1813!

Friday, March 21, 2014. Historical Sew Fortnightly Challenge #5: Bodice. For a recent clothing presentation for my Jane Austen class, I completed a (hasty) reproduction of this gown from an 1812 Costume Parisien fashion plate:. The fabric is a lovely plaid that I got for dirt cheap ($1 a yard! A while back. I, of course, have a sizeable stash of white fabric, but since I was making this dress very quickly I didn't want to dip into my strategic muslin reserves. My first adventure in bodice draping! The da...

Saturday, July 27, 2013. Historical Sew Fortnightly Challenge #15: White. Hello again, everyone! I have just returned from the Jane Austen festival, which was a lovely time altogether. It was great seeing old friends and making new ones, and introducing my beau to the world of reenacting! I wasn't able to make myself anything new for this event, but I did make a waistcoat for David. It was my first tailoring experience, and I think it turned out pretty nicely! The Challenge: #15: White. This was before I...

Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Early 1860's and Late 1860's: What's the Difference? Please bear in mind that I am in no way an expert: I am simply reporting on the trends I have seen, and hoping to educate people so they don't make the same mistakes as I have (yes, I might have once bought silk to make an 1866 ball gown for CW use.) Please, anyone, chime in if they have any additional information, I'd love to hear it! 2 Shaped skirt panels. 3 On ball gowns- straight waists. 5 Skirt Peplums/"Butt fluff". Dames...

Tuesday, August 12, 2014. The Louisville Jane Austen Festival. Long time, no talk! In the weeks leading up to the Jane Austen Festival, I feverishly sewed quite a lot, and in the weeks after, I completely crashed from all of the stress. Finally I'm getting on my feet again! With all of the stress that Jane Fest brought, it was immensely fun and worth all of the work. Aided in my dressing and we went and shopped until we dropped. Mr Cushing has many talents. Finally, I just asked her what she wanted me to do to make her feel better. Then, out it came. Can we take Blue and put him with Emilee, so she can take care of him? Fuck Just, ouch. Sunday, January 29, 2012. Organising click track tempos and calculating BPM. As always, the disclaimer:. The techniques described here are merely those employed by four musicians in a band attempting to record their album from within an abandoned garage. We have limited experience, a limited amount of equipment, and a budget of precisely zero - none of which we see as a barrier. Whilst strictly amateur in our approach, however, this is a serious attempt at recording . ]. All of the individual sections - ...
