The Devonian Period

On my next visit to Exeter the weather was beautiful, it was the first week of September and this is one of my favourite times of year for going outside nice and early, the air is usually crisp and the temperatures are a bit more bearable (I don’t do well in humid heat). I decided to stroll around the wider grounds first, and headed over to the pond, where I found these lovely views. And some wasps digging this massive hole! And some rather attractive mushrooms. Sadly once again it was time to leave, exc...

June 2015 – The Devonian Period

https://thedevonianperiod.wordpress.com/2015/06

Sticklepath and Finch Foundry. I first decided to visit Sticklepath after seeing it on a map – not only did it sound like a village from a Fairytale, I saw it had a museum and the added bonus of only being a few minutes from the A30, which would maximise the chances of me not getting lost. When I arrived and parked up, I realised the museum was a National trust place, and as I had my volunteer card decided I of course had to go in. After a talk by a very knowledgeable and interesting member of staff, I w...

Why we Moved to Exeter – The Devonian Period

Why we Moved to Exeter. May 24, 2015. May 24, 2015. 8211; however I had a suspicion that they wouldn’t have made him go all that way that early in the morning if they weren’t seriously considering him, but I kept my thoughts (mostly) to myself. Ayway, today we drove in on purpose, Pat went for his interview and I took myself and the map I’d printed off of google towards the town. I pointed out that if he thought he wasn’t going to get it we’d best make the most of sightseeing as I wasn’...Dinner was shov...

Exeter Cathedral – The Devonian Period

https://thedevonianperiod.wordpress.com/2015/05/25/exeter-cathedral

May 25, 2015. May 24, 2015. Exeter Cathedral wins the award for the first Tourist Attraction I visited in Exeter, as well as the award for only Cathedral I have visited more than 5 times – including Chichester, where I spent 26 years of my life! Inside is what I like to call “The Owl Room” (St Saviour’s’s Chapel) – which is literally chock-full of Owls, carved, embroidered (I like the particularly surprised one) and painted. 8220;From this cold corpse be instructed, and from complacency waken you; You wi...

The ‘Big Move’ | Fenifur's Junk Room

https://fenifur.wordpress.com/2015/07/26/the-big-move

Fenifur's Junk Room. July 26, 2015 · 8:09 pm. The ‘Big Move’. Long story short, my boyfriend was offered a funded a Phd at Exeter uni in June 2014, and just like that we were moving 150 miles away! My Dad suggested that we buy a house with his help rather than give all our money to a landlord via rent, so we started our house hunting. Buying a house is stressful at the best of times, but we didn’t know the area, we were on a time scale of two months, and a budget which was not our money to squander.
