A little PSB, better than nothing. April 26, 2013. Our first attempt at growing purple sprouting broccoli got me thinking it was easy. Despite hemming them in with romanesco plants planted far too close on either side, they grew to about 5ft tall, and produced a steady supply of … Continue reading →. October 7, 2012. Recently, as sometimes happens, life has been getting in the way of allotmenting. Today I made it down to the plot for only the second time in a couple of months. March 18, 2012. Vegging out...

July 7, 2012. Today was our Allotment Association’s Summer Fayre, a chance for plot-holders to get together over a barbeque and a keg of beer and compare the fruits of their labours. October 23, 2010. Although we haven’t had an allotment long enough to finish clearing it, let alone get it planted up and yielding produce, I’m already thinking ahead. Some day, we’ll have a glut of something, and rather than let it rot (perish … Continue reading →. A little PSB, better than nothing. Is it a polytunnel?
Spuds We Like (and others we’re not so sure about) | Plot Lines
http://plotlines.co.uk/2012/08/spuds-we-like
Vegetable Traffic Jam →. Spuds We Like (and others we’re not so sure about). August 28, 2012. We grew a few different varieties of potato on the plot this year. Despite the wet weather, overall they did okay, although some were affected and we did have to harvest them a little early as they were starting to show signs of blight (the tomatoes later got wiped out). Since we got our allotment, we’ve generally tried to grow small quantities of as many different varieties of as many different vegetables...
Grainy's Garden: April 2012
http://grainysgarden.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 21 April 2012. Some time in the garden. I've been busy and the garden's been a bit neglected lately, but things carry on growing. I spent the day planting out little seedlings into pots in the greenhouse (I put a chair in there so I can sit whilst I work, but Seren has taken to making it her throne where it's warm and she can watch me gardening). Here are the potatoes that have been chitting, Pentland Javelin and Estima. I even mowed the lawn, for the first time this year! The paneer was to coo...

Category Archives: Roots and Onions. December 1, 2012. We haven’t had much success with root vegetables. We’ve tried direct sowing. We’ve tried starting seeds off in toilet tube inners and then planting out. We just can’t seem to get them growing reliably. March 19, 2011. Last weekend we started planting our peas and beans. This weekend it was the turn of the roots. And the winner is: garlic! February 16, 2011. A little PSB, better than nothing. Is it a polytunnel? Is it a cloche? A Plot too Far.
