The Dilettante Chef: Non-Dairy Keylime Pie

http://www.thedilettantekitchen.blogspot.com/2012/03/non-dairy-keylime-pie.html

There are a few desserts characterized particularly by the dairy ingredients in them. like cheesecake, ice cream, pudding, and key lime pie. Super delicious (and generally speaking, I find fake dairy stuff totally repulsive. Have you ever tried veggie cheese? Blehhh it's like trying to melt a makeup sponge on your food.). Suddenly, a new dimension of desserts was opened to me, and this is a very happy dimension. 8 oz non-dairy cream cheese (Tofutti or Trader Joe's). 12 oz silk tofu. 1/3 cup key lime juice.

The Dilettante Chef: Spring Roll in a Bowl

http://www.thedilettantekitchen.blogspot.com/2013/03/spring-roll-in-bowl.html

Spring Roll in a Bowl. Some food speaks for itself. But in case you like words. how about delicate rice noodles, topped with crisp carrots, cucumber, fresh mint, cilantro, and thai basil with a rich peanut sauce finished with crunchy, salty peanuts? Natural-style creamy peanut butter. Freshly squeezed lime juice. From about 1 medium lime). 1 minced thai chili. Clove, mashed to a paste. 1 tsp fish sauce. 1/4 cup crushed, roasted peanuts. 1 tablespoon soy sauce. 2 tablespoon hoisin sauce. Top your noodles ...

The Dilettante Chef: Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi Sandwiches

http://www.thedilettantekitchen.blogspot.com/2012/03/vietnamese-lemongrass-chicken-banh-mi.html

Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi Sandwiches. Just like style, there are food trends. And Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches are hip. I also appreciate that there are so many varieties to choose from, and no real wrong way to go about creating your own banh mi. That being said, some ways just taste better, like this way :). Light, crusty baguettes. Avoid sourdough, ciabatta will suffice, but if you can- get the real deal from the Asian market. Thai basil or Mint. English cucumbe, sliced thin. 2 Tbsp Fish sauce.

The Dilettante Chef: Brussels Sprout, Grape, + Goat Cheese Pizza

http://www.thedilettantekitchen.blogspot.com/2013/02/brussels-sprout-grape-goat-cheese-pizza.html

Brussels Sprout, Grape, Goat Cheese Pizza. This isn't so much of a step-by-step recipe, but a list of ingredients that taste quite lovely together :). For crust: 14-19 oz. Pizza dough ( I use the 5-minute Artisan Crusty White Bread recipe. Bake the crust without toppings for 8-10 minutes in a 500°F oven. Sauce: 5-7 cloves of roasted garlic. 3 Tbs apricot preserves 1 tsp balsamic vinegar salt to taste. Mash it all together. Spread the sauce over the crust, then add some shredded parmesan. Create and Cook!: January 2012

http://createcookcraft.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Fabulous food, but mostly delicious desserts. Saturday, January 7, 2012. So I have always used Aunt Liz recipe for french bread, it was always a little dense. My friend Tammy told me to try this one and I did and it was so yummy. Recipes from Best Bites usually are. While making it I realized I did not have an egg, so I substituted 1 Tab. flax seed for the one egg. It was a little dry, but delicious! And the flax seed gave it a cool speckled look. French Bread, Hoagies, and Buns. 1 Tbsp. yeast.

Monday December 23, 2013. Well, it was that time of the year again and my kitty died on Xmas Day. I made this tree in her memory as we used to listen to music together. Middot; No comments yet. So, funny story; when I initially posted this recipe two years ago, I included instructions on how to strain regular plain yogurt to make Greek yogurt.  Back then,  Greek yogurt wasnt something found in all grocery stores. The Dilettante Reader | Commentary, reviews, and ruminations on books and writing

Commentary, reviews, and ruminations on books and writing. The Dead by Charlie Higson. Posted February 10, 2012 by thedilettantereader. The Enemy novels have a high body count, with lots of gore and violence, and it probably doesn’t do to get too attached to any particular characters, because Mr. Higson doesn’t have any qualms about killing off main characters. The Dead is an exciting addition to a fast-paced, action-packed post-apocalyptic YA series. Be the first to comment. The Enemy by Charlie Higson.
