To create a post with a gallery of some of the images that are currently in my show with Gail Hood at the Henry Hood Gallery. So here it is! The opening was so much fun,. And a big relief, after all of the work that went into getting it ready. We had a big crowd and Gail, as usual, sold almost everything on the walls! I sold three of these big prints at the opening.

Saturday, 30 April 2011. I was in Perth (Australia) for work a few weeks ago and took the opportunity to take some street photographs. I used my point and shoot camera (Canon Powershot S95), a fabulous little camera which allowed me to be fairly subtle and less in-the-face than the big 30D. It was quite challenging taking photos of strangers in their rush hour heading home, but it was fun too, particularly playing with the strong contrasting light. Girl at a bus stop (challenging bright light behind).

Monday, 21 March 2011. Womad was on last weekend and as a result I finally got around to shooting my event for Assignment 2, People and Places. Here are a few grabs from the (pleasantly large) pile of good photos I captured. I know I've been in the UK too long. I forgot to take a polariser with me! The greatest festival in the world for fabulous world music, dance, food and fun set in a beautiful environment in Botanic Park, Adelaide. What a great weekend. More photos to come ;). Monday, 20 February 2012. Off to the market again with camera and flash. I asked this lady to pose for me and am quite pleased with this natural shot. Some minor post processing with curves, crop and removal of a small background imperfection. I like the narrow DOF which isolates her from the dark background which still has some interest, and she looks smart and fresh despite her age. Friday, 6 May 2011. What does sustainability mean to me? I've been asking myself this question for a while now, and I am going to enter a competition with this same subject (due in a few weeks). I'd love to get peoples opinion on my images and will take any suggestions seriously! I've tried to think about what I do in my. I should have been doing this for ages! Tuesday, 31 January 2012. Beyond People and Place. I sent off my work for the March assessment yesterday. Pretty exciting to send off another finished subject, two years in the making. I feel like I've come a long way but also realise how far I've got to go. Tuesday, 8 May 2012. Formal Assessment - People and Place. Well I received my formal notification of my results for People and Place 1 last night. I was very pleased to see I have passed with a Class 1 again, the same as for The Art of Photography. I didn't think I'd done quite as well as TAOP, so I was pleased that the assessors disagreed with me! I also appreciated the comments, one of which reads " Continuing to develop your personal style and take innovative risks will further strengthen your work.

Saturday, June 22, 2013. The House on 66 Houlahan Street. There is a house in a neighborhood called. It’s a quiet two-story house, in an equally quiet neighborhood. And if you look close enough, you’ll read the number 66 on the top right corner of the garage door. That used to be my house, my 66 Houlahan Street. From Toys’R’Us. Oh, I could go on and on about this house, all the way up until the day it broke my heart to see we had hung our “For Sale” sign at the end of the driveway…. It's a beautiful life!
