The Business of Writing: This One's for Tara

The Business of Writing. Notes from a business writer. and now, novelist. Thursday, April 2, 2015. This One's for Tara. That's Tara, seated on my right. Last month, I was honored to be the featured author at the Fitchburg (MA) Library's Author Night. The moderator was a fine young woman named Tara Dugan, who, as it turns out, is a distant cousin. although I'm still not sure how. Despite any genetic connection she may have with me, she did a great job. While I was revising a poem that sucked, my long-dead.

http://whatmamataught.blogspot.com/2009/09/results-yes.html

Here's what she wrote me this week:. 1) My Principal brought it up at the faculty meeting so more of us could highlight it. Direct and immediate action! October 1, 2009 at 8:25 AM. How cool is that? I’m a middle-aged ...

Every Day Do One Thing: August 2011
http://everydaydoonething.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Every Day Do One Thing. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. What Are Your Twenty Wishes? I've been reading Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber. Originally, I checked this book out from the library for Mom, who has become an avid reader since we moved to Evergreen. However, after she raved about how much she enjoyed the novel, I decided to read it before returning it to the library. In this inspiring book, Debbie outlines her long journey to becoming a published author, how it took writing seven. Which, of course, g...

Every Day Do One Thing: How to Get Un-Stuck
http://everydaydoonething.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-get-un-stuck.html
Every Day Do One Thing. Wednesday, August 17, 2011. How to Get Un-Stuck. In the comments section of my last post. My friend and fellow blogger, Larramie. Asked how my brother John changed my mind about choosing this house. I thought I'd share that process with you because it taught me an important lesson about getting unstuck. Build a gabled roof! Don't like the master bath? Put in those pebbled floors you've always dreamed of! Beauty. That's probably why I feel so at home here now. While on one level, t...

The Business of Writing. Notes from a business writer. and now, novelist. Sunday, March 30, 2014. You Search for It Until It Finds You. When I was a young hormone, I once asked my father for advice on winning a girl's heart. I must have really. Liked that girl, because broaching such a topic with my father, at that age, was about as uncool and desperate an act I could imagine. Chase her," he said. "Until she catches you.". Um, right. Thanks, Dad. And thanks, Dad. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Reading Betwe...

http://thebusinessofwriting.blogspot.com/2013_06_13_archive.html
The Business of Writing. Notes from a business writer. and now, novelist. Thursday, June 13, 2013. This article in the New York Times. On Writing and Fear. Hit a nerve. Don't write what you know, the author advises, write what you fear. It got me to thinking: What if the things you fear are wrapped up in the writing process itself? What keeps your writerly mind cowering beneath the sheets? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bill Warrington's Last Chance. Click on image for trailer. View my complete profile.
