Well, folks, Storm is still going strong at 13 and it is truly a wonder and a gift to me. When she was diagnosed with spondylosis at age six, and started showing visible signs of slowing down at around eight, I thought, this beautiful soul is not likely going to live to be a very old German shepherd. So I comfort her. And tell her she is safe.

If you want to make it vegetarian, you could easily use vegetable stock and it would be just as good. 1 medium sweet onion, finely chopped. 1 rib of celery, finely chopped. 3 cloves of garlic, minced. I head of broccoli, stem chopped. 2 tablespoon of butter. 3 cups of water. 2 tablespoon of butter. 2 tablespoon of all purpose flour. 4 cups of chicken stock. 1 cup of light cream or whole milk.

Sunday, April 26, 2009. 4 cucumbers, peeled or not, sliced thin. 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 3 teaspoons dried dill. 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced. Place water, vinegar, sugar, dill and garlic in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stir until sugar dissolves. Place sliced onions and cucumbers in a glass bowl. Pour vinegar mixture over top. Cover bowl, refrigerate until chilled, at least 4 hours. Serve. Makes 4 -6 servings. Serves 4 - 6.
