Becca In Perú: September 2005
http://beccajoyperu.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Welcome to my blog! Friday, September 16, 2005. This past weekend I took a trip with other students to the Colca Canyon. This canyon is the 2nd deepest canyon in the world, second to another here in Peru. I came away with many stories from this weekend. I’ll start with the bus ride:. The view of this part of Peru was good though: a lot of desert, mountains, and alpacas and llamas. Here is our group that went:. 2 students from Germany, 3 from Denmark, 2 from ALABAMA! When we climbed back up to the lookout...

Welcome to my blog! Friday, December 30, 2005. My How Time Flies! It is SOOO hard to believe that 2 years ago this week, I was on my first mission trip ever, and it was here in Peru. After that trip I got swept up in a whirlwind of applying and being approved by Mission to the World, raising support, going through training, and arriving here! Here's me 2 years ago here! And here is a kind-of recent shot 2 years later.). Here is a glimpse of His Andes mountains:. Posted by Becca @ 2:46 PM. Many have asked...

Becca In Perú: August 2005
http://beccajoyperu.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Welcome to my blog! Saturday, August 27, 2005. One might ask: How many people can you fit into a taxi (other than the tico taxi)? The answer as I discovered the other night is 8 : 7 women, 1 male taxi driver, one cake, and 2 bags of groceries, not to mention at least 4 purses. Personal space? What is that in Peru? Next we saw them pour gas into a 1.5 liter water bottle, then pour that bottle into the tank. Gratefully, minutes later we arrived home. The taxis are another way I am learning to trust God!

Becca In Perú: February 2006
http://beccajoyperu.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Welcome to my blog! Thursday, February 23, 2006. I arrived to Lima this week, and am in the process of settling in. Since I have been in Arequipa for the majority of my time here in Peru, I am now needing to learn Lima, and the way of life here. Some may ask, "But you have been in Peru, why are you adapting yet again? There are grocery stores here, but I have learned that produce is a lot better from either the market place, or the people who walk the streets with their buggies full of fruit, announcing ...

Welcome to my blog! Monday, November 28, 2005. The Adventures at Lake Titicaca. So this past Friday, as many people were shopping and fighting to get the best bargains, my Peruvian sister Ana and I were peacefully making our way by bus to Puno, to visit Lake Titicaca and some of the islands there. For a bit of a geography lesson for those who are like me: Lake Titicaca is the largest freshwater lake in South America, and the highest navigable lake in the world at 12,500 feet above sea level.). Like I men...

Becca In Perú: October 2005
http://beccajoyperu.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Welcome to my blog! Saturday, October 29, 2005. Banana Nut Bread Blunders. And other cooking adventures! So I have only cooked a few times here in Peru. My first time cooking here in Arequipa for my host family was a family dish from back home (originating in Thailand). My last experience in the kitchen was a lot more dramatic! So then I start mixing again with my left hand holding the plug in place in the wall, the right hand mixing the ingredients with the mixer, and my right elbow trying to hold the b...
