The Dreaded 'Tis. A full plate of Autism and a side of humor. It’s the little things…. Why “The Dreaded ‘Tis”? By The Dreaded 'Tis. Will you bring it up or should I? PJ and I got an invitation to meet up at a local park from another mom in our area. We had never met before, but I had joined a Facebook group to expand my circle of mama-friends and for PJ to interact and make friends with lots of kids his age! My luck continued as the mom I met up with was sweet, friendly, and easy-going! And goodness know...

The Dreaded 'Tis. A full plate of Autism and a side of humor. It’s the little things…. Why “The Dreaded ‘Tis”? By The Dreaded 'Tis. Autism- It’s just like the SAT’s! Writing about our difficulties finding a developmental physician the other day reminded me of all of the paperwork that our autism journey has entailed so far. Environmentalists, I hate to break this to you, but it may not be cow farts or toilet paper or gas-powered vehicles that are to blame for the waning condition of our world. And let...

The Dreaded 'Tis. A full plate of Autism and a side of humor. It’s the little things…. Why “The Dreaded ‘Tis”? By The Dreaded 'Tis. Today Tomorrow. Yesterday. Autism. It was only in the moments that I allowed it to that Autism would come and stab me in the heart, reminding me that it was not only there, but not fucking going anywhere! One tantrum or picked over meal starts a cycle of sadness that leaves me reeling. I read the book “Bloom” by Kelle Hampton. In the next. I’m not there yet, and wh...I don&#...

After six months of waiting, the day arrived for PJ’s evaluation with the Early Childhood Development Team at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I dressed PJ with my usual care (PJ has a great wardrobe! I somehow managed to go off on a fashion tangent there. Sorry for that Stacey and Clinton moment. 8220;PJ was breastfed for twenty months!

The Dreaded 'Tis. A full plate of Autism and a side of humor. It’s the little things…. Why “The Dreaded ‘Tis”? By The Dreaded 'Tis. Two weeks later…. Two weeks after PJ’s evaluation with the developmental pediatrician. Pete and I went back alone to discuss the results with the team at CHOP. We got to it. I will never forget how Dr. L started off the conversation because it truly made me laugh out loud, even though she meant it in all sincerity. Pete and I glanced at each other- we weren’t surprised...

A Moment Between Cups of Tea
A Moment Between Cups of Tea. Thoughts and Musings About Everyday Miracles. Sunday, February 14, 2016. The Most Dangerous Thrift Shop in Fillmore. I've been hitting up thrift stores and antique shops lately, combing through treasures, getting prices for things I may want later. I also checked out Craigslist, and found an antique store in town that I've never been to or driven by. So I hit it up. And found TREASURES. The next finds make me very, very happy. An article about becoming a children's dance ins...

The Dreaded Wedding Diet
The Dreaded Wedding Diet. Monday, August 30, 2010. Crunch Time (pun intended). People, we're in crunch time. I was stuck in this downward spiral for a while, eating a few (or more) pieces of candy every night (because what's 3 Hershey kisses? Well, continue like that for 2 weeks and all your workouts are for nothing. Throw in a couple of steak dinners and two over-the-top Italian meals, and you're back to fat kid status. Wedding arms here I come, there will be no "fat bride" on 9/18! Oh well, I guess I'l...
