January 20, 2014. In Abbotsford, BC was really the first dairy farm I visited, although mentally I kind of discount it because it was very impromptu, and I never got close to the cows. January 12, 2014. Calf at UBC Dairy Centre. Actually, a cursory search online reveals that dairy cows are susceptible to several illnesses, including mastitis and lameness. Surfing the web for dairy farming results in an avalanche of literature on the abuse of cows. A recent undercover investigation by Mercy for Animals of the Wiese Brothers Farm in Wisconsin shows cows being abused by workers. Viewing the footage alone is enough to cause lactose intolerance.
