Baby It's Coooold Outside. Well, it's almost Christmas now and the wind is howwwwwwling outside. Hope you all get home safe and sound. It's been busy here at home. Luckily the cows have had enough grass to keep them going so their early Christmas present was a bale of hay on Christmas Eve. There's also been an election - Eddie Downey is our new IFA President - fairplay man :) We also have three new kittens so Millie the dog is getting used to sharing her territory. My Favourite Christmas Song. EVER :).
January 2014 - www.thefarmfactor.com

January has been a fairly quiet month, (the calm before the storm! We put the cows into their shed and got their calving pens ready. The quality of the straw and silage is very good so they're happy and I'm happy. One of the sheep was lame so I gave her an injection and the problem has cleared up. The other 4 are fine. February 2014 - www.thefarmfactor.com
http://www.thefarmfactor.com/269873857
February has been an incredible month of storms. The winds have been really strong and the roof on the shed lifted but luckily did not blow off altogether. That was on the 12th of February and the next day Grandad strapped the roof down - just to be on the safe side. We were without electricity for 24 hours but thankfully it was not for longer as some of our neighbours were without power for 6 days. The first calves are due on the 2nd March soooooooo fingers crossed everyone. Share this page on Facebook.
Summer 2013 - www.thefarmfactor.com
http://www.thefarmfactor.com/269873822
Summer is always a busy time on the farm. We had a new foal, a bull for the heifers and plenty of hay making and silage cutting. The weather was epic hot too so of course we had plenty of good Wexford strawberries and beach days. Dad and I spent a tough few days fixing the shed and the yard for the cows' first winter - managed to squeeze in some good nights out in Gorey with my friends and a tag rugby tournament in Gorey RFC as well. March 2014 - www.thefarmfactor.com
http://www.thefarmfactor.com/269873820
Well, March has been a busy month and you can guess why , yeah? The All Blacks had their calves so now we've a new season squad on the way. One of them is even called Brian, after the legend himself. Of course, it was a night and day job - up at all hours with Dad to see them calving but luckily they all calved by themselves -no drama so happy days for our 7 bulls and 6 heifers. At home with Millie, our own sheepdog! My name is Brian, a young farmer in Co. Wexford. After my 21st birthday, I bought some Aberdeen Angus heifers and so far so good. I love the outdoors and working on the farm. I set up this blog to give a little insight into what I get up to here in Ballyclough. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Share this page on Facebook.
