Saturday, February 21, 2009. I finally pinned Rich down to what he thought would work best for a semi garden this summer. We are going to plant 3 raised salad beds. One with tomatoes, one with cucumbers, and one with lettuce. I am planning on planted some sunflowers again and probably some marigolds. Due to indoor space limitations, we plan on purchasing the tomato and cucumber plants from a local produce stand. The boys are trying to talk us into a mini garden that they can do their.

Today we worked together and made our favorite homemade play dough in the colors of green and brown. Elijah took the cake with his replica of the frog life cycle. When he saw the picture, he admitted that he forgot to add the last frog. Still a superb job. It has been so wonderful to have God provide so much of what we have needed in order to have great mini unit studies each week.

After doing a bit of research on wild bird rescues and realizing that the heron was able to get around a bit, (we think it had a hurt leg), Rich and Dante released the heron at the neighbor's pond. They reported back that the minute the bird was let go, he started calling out and hunting. He definitely had a better chance at getting what he needed being in his natural habitat.
