Establishing and maintaining relationships with parents! I remember thinking how they must have thought I looked too young to be teaching their babies. Oh, how I wish I still had that problem. I remember being so scared to tell parents about their child's behavior.would they accuse me of lying? Since that first year, parent/teach...

http://thefirstgradeparade.blogspot.com/search/label/groundhog

The First Grade Parade. Showing posts with label groundhog. Showing posts with label groundhog. Walruses and Groundhogs…It Was That Kind of Week :). The First Grade Parade. Suggested Summer Reading (Leveled! This will be a quick post as I have a full day ahead of me prepping for some PD I'll be doing in OK later this week. As I was going through some files to share, I came across these lists I created to send home with my kids last year. I compiled a list of different books parents can buy/check out from the library that reach their independent reading levels. I also included books that would be great for fluency! The suggested book lists. May 18, 20...

The First Grade Parade: The Thankful Tree

http://thefirstgradeparade.blogspot.com/2010/11/thankful-tree.html

The First Grade Parade. I really love the idea of kids reflecting on what they have to be thankful for.  So, we read the book, “. 8221; by Virginia Kroll. . The beginning of the book talks about a sweet Grandma who sets aside a Thanksgiving bowl for her family to place strips of paper detailing what they’re thankful for, and then all the little papers are read aloud during Thanksgiving dinner.  Love it! 160; I thought it was the perfect intro to adding a Thankful Tree to our room :) . Skip to main content. Skip to secondary content. A Tale of Three Cities. 8230;life never stops in the cities. Tips, Tricks, Tutorials. September 5, 2012. Once upon a time, I loved buffalo. The sauce, that is. In fact, I loved it so much that when I was pregnant with princess-sparklepants-peanut-butter-cup-cute-face London, it was ALL I had to have. My blood ran buffalo. Ah, what the pregnant woman will do. And it had me at “hello”. It couldn’t be easier! 1 can chicken broth. 1/2 onion, diced. Return the ...

We Heart 1st: May 2014

http://weheart1st.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 6, 2014. One of the reasons that I love first grade soooo much is that I get to see my students become readers. My team celebrates this each year with our I Love to Read Day Character Fashion Show. We started this tradition six years ago, and it continues to get bigger and better each year! Prior to the big day, the kiddos write out character descriptions that will be read when they're walking across the stage and draw their characters for the bulletin board. They turned out so cute!

Have you ever experienced a runner's high? Well, I've heard of it.but must admit that I would only run long enough to reach that exalted state if the hounds of Hades were after me. Then again, maybe not.sweating is so not me! Anyway, back on track. Some people get a high exercising, while I prefer to get mine shopping. Not just any old shopping - bargain shopping! Too stinkin' cute to pass up! Except I would have if it had actually been $49.99.). This one is smaller in size but just as cute! All I can sa...

http://brian-and-dana.blogspot.com/2014/11/october-from-my-phone.html

Monday, November 3, 2014. October, from my phone. October flew by. Is time getting faster? Lots of pictures this month . . . My cutie pie in her Sunday best. Visited Salt Lake LDS temple with Grandma. Porter is a puzzle maniac! He did this 100 piece puzzle about 3-5 times a day for 2 weeks straight. Cutest moment of the month. Fun seeing the hubby's graphic design work all around (billboard). Weekend getaway = unlimited bed jumping. Loved the Blue Boar Inn for breakfast - thanks to a great recommendation.
