A German in Finland –. Thoughts from Up North. Laquo; Trip #1 – Dubai. Trip #2 – Tallinn. April 11, 2011 by yvonnealt. As Tallinn is practically round the corner, we took the opportunity this weekend for a short day trip to Estonia. And I had the chance to see my house from a completely different perspective – normally I only see the ferries arriving or leaving from my bedroom window. =). St Mary’s Cathedral / Dome church. Danish king’s garden. And tickets are only 2 EUR anyway.). 8230; to name only a vi...

A German in Finland –. Thoughts from Up North. Laquo; Trip #2 – Tallinn. April 15, 2011 by yvonnealt. If you wanna try something different – why not some curling? It’s something I’ve never done before but we all had a great time. (And well, it was quite funny: sliding over the ice on your knees with a brush in one hand and trying not to fall on your backside! A German in Finland –. Thoughts from Up North. Laquo; Helsinki Restaurants – today: Rapu Ya. Trip #1 – Dubai. Sibelius Monument and a walk on the sea. March 7, 2011 by yvonnealt. Before playing Jesus and actually walking over (ok, frozen) water, we first did some proper tourist impersonation and visited Sibelius monument. I have to admit that I had to ask Wikipedia about Sibelius but now know the following:. Is dedicated to the Finnish. In the district of Töölö. The capital city of Finland. Afterwards we...

A German in Finland –. Thoughts from Up North. April 22, 2011 by yvonnealt. To make use of the nice weather last weekend we decided to visit Suomenlinna, which is just off the coast of Helsinki. No extra ticket needed to go there – you can just use your normal bus ticket for the ferry, leaving at the harbour at the end of Esplanadi and arriving at the islands 15min later. A German in Finland –. Thoughts from Up North. May 1, 2011 by yvonnealt. Here are some pics from yesterday. We’ve been down at Esplanadi for the yeary Vappu ceremony, starting at 6pm on May Day Eve every year. Students are first washing Havis Amanda (called “Manta”), a statue of a mermaid at the end of Esplanadi, and then dressing her with the white student hat. Naturally, that all goes along with a lot of drinking and partying…. On August 8, 2011 at 09:36. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Build a website wit...
