And baby makes four …. A Tale of Two (Food) Cities, Part II. Leave a comment ». Today Preston and I had lunch at the Modern. The restaurant at MoMA. It’s very close to Preston’s office, so he went to work. I did not go to work. I went to MoMA. Lunch was sublime, just as it was last year. Here’s what we ate:. Preston: SEASONAL GREENS: Almond-Crusted Goat Cheese, Smoked Grapes and Verjus Vinaigrette. Tami: MAPLE-BRINED BERKSHIRE PORK TENDERLOIN: Crushed Walnuts, Mangalica Lardo, and Whole Grain Mustard Jus.

And baby makes four …. Leave a comment ». I spent my visit at MoMA exploring the exhibition Inventing Abstraction, 1910-1925. It was really interesting. While it was about the invention of abstraction, hence the title, it was really about the power of networks. In fact, the wall leading into the exhibit has this illustration that shows the connections. Written by Tami Forman. January 1, 2013 at 9:58 pm. Posted in Pop Culture. And baby makes four …. I run, therefore I am a runner. Leave a comment ». I have a very long, strange and convoluted history with running. To fully appreciate it, you have to understand that as a kid I hated all athletics. I really hated team sports, but I wasn’t much of a ran of things like running either. The on-again, off-again relationship with running continued into my very early 30s. About 7 years ago I started running outside (previously I’d almost exclusively run on treadmills) and I began to...

And baby makes four …. Wise beyond her years. Sam just started walking. It’s very exciting, for him and for us. Everyone is very proud of him, including Maddie. There’s a kid on the first floor of our building who’s just about a year. As we came off the elevator on our way to the bus the other morning we saw him in the hallway, walking. As we walked on Maddie said to me “Some little babies walk.”. I said, “Yes, that’s right, Maddie. Some little babies walk.”. I agreed that was true. Written by Tami Forman.

And baby makes four …. A Tale of Two (Food) Cities, Part I. Leave a comment ». Today Preston and I did a City Food Tour. Called Tastes of New York. It was so fun! We toured all around the East Village, learning about the neighborhood and eating all kinds of yummy New York goodies. To wit, we had the following;. Salami on Rye at the Meat Market. Compost Cookies at Momofuku Milk Bar. Hot Dog from Papaya Dog. Tomorrow we are having lunch at The Modern. Which will be my other tale …. Written by Tami Forman.

NYinATX: bagels
http://nyinatx.blogspot.com/2008/11/bagels.html
New yorker living in texas. Sunday, November 02, 2008. Then i moved to texas. texans don't know bagels. they think bagels are einstein's bagels. NOT! I mean, they have their redeeming qualities, i'm just not sure what those qualities are. So the other day, as we were watching diners, drive-ins and dives on food network. The show's host went to a place that made fresh NY style bagels. i *had* to watch. So i'm posting the recipe here. not as i found it by emeril on food network. Let me know if you like it!

Delhi, Dharma, and Daal. Jennifer’s travels in India. I spoke too soon…. November 22, 2008. In the last couple of days I’ve added to my list of animals spotted around the city with some good ones. There is a large park that I can walk through to get to one of my research sites and I’ve gone through it a couple of times. The first time I noticed what I first thought might be turkeys (maybe I have Thanksgiving on my brain) but when I got closer realized that they were peahens. She was brightly painted and ...

Delhi, Dharma, and Daal. Jennifer’s travels in India. Catching up (or Marnin’s Trip, Part 2). February 6, 2009. The long gap between postings is easily explained by two papers I had to write, two conferences I attended, and two trips I took within India. Now that my whirlwind January is over and I’m back in the US I can look back on my experiences and share some of the highlights with you. I think I haven’t written much about food in India because for the most part I was eating at home. This region, whic...

Delhi, Dharma, and Daal. Jennifer’s travels in India. December 28, 2008. I’m sure I’m not the most qualified or eloquent person to write about this subject but it is weighing on my mind. Besides, since I can’t be in Ohio right now maybe this is a way to help me process my own feelings about what has happened. I found out on Christmas morning that a very, very good friend’s husband had jumped into a river to save their dog and died of hypothermia when he couldn’t get out. And then I also find that a few d...

Delhi, Dharma, and Daal. Jennifer’s travels in India. Marnin’s Trip, Part 1. December 14, 2008. Marnin arrived on his first trip to India late in the evening on Sunday, November 23. I had planned a short day of sightseeing in expectation that Marnin would be jet-lagged. We started at Chhatarpur temple, a large new temple complex that has become a religious site and tourist attraction. It also felt appropriate to start Marnin’s visit with a trip to the temple. Another fascinating aspect of this site is th...

Delhi, Dharma, and Daal. Jennifer’s travels in India. The wildlife of Delhi. November 15, 2008. While I’ve been mostly going back and forth from my home to my research sites I have managed to notice and appreciate the animals dwelling in the city’s parks, streets, and trees. I was particularly struck on Wednesday morning as I took what has now become a regular walk in our local park. Some of you know that I have a particular interest in birds although I am by no means a talented birder. I am assured that...

New yorker living in texas. Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Sorry it's been so long, but lots going on. Turkey day was great - mom and dad arrived early, and we had a nice midnight chat. then i had a couple of days before the atlanta crew showed up. turkey day consisted of everyone cooking and kids running around and food (of course). i believe the tv was even turned on for a bit of football, but i'm not 100% sure. Hope everyone's turkey was moist and filling. Posted by momo @ 9:18 PM. Living room is clean...
