The Collection :: vintage string and scissor holder wall plaque - The Foundery

http://www.thefoundery.co.uk/vintage-string-and-scissor-holder-wall-plaque.html

Vintage string and scissor holder wall plaque. A lovely 1960’s, ceramic, hand painted string dispenser and scissor holder, by Arthur Wood of Staffordshire. White with moulded dimples adding texture to his breast and tail – there’s pretty Scandinavian style decoration on the wings and sides of his tail. With a flat back and lip to take a hook, its hollow body can hold a ball of string, which can be threaded through a hole in its beak. A pair of scissors slot easily into his hollow tail.

Not a Duckling by Hans Bølling | The Foundery

https://thefoundery.wordpress.com/2016/01/06/not-a-duckling-by-hans-bolling

January 6, 2016. Not a Duckling by Hans Bølling. New Year and a new friend. I found him browsing in a charity shop (me not him), and nabbed him quick. The Hong Kong stamp beneath a foot rules out his origins as a Hans Bølling, but he’s obviously a copy of the famous design. Not a duck by Hans Bølling. Original by Hans Bølling. Originals by Hans Bølling. Wonderful Copenhagen by Viggo Vagnby. Mine may not have the line and form of the originals, but he makes me smile. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

Little Green Bull | The Foundery

https://thefoundery.wordpress.com/2016/04/28/little-green-bull

April 28, 2016. My latest find is a curvy green Bull made by Lotus Pottery, Devon. He’s a deep olive-green with a daisy motif in soft speckled blue, on either side of his flanks. The design, by Elizabeth Skipwith, is called Petal on Sage and there is also a blue version, called as you might expect, Petal on Blue. The more unusual fern decoration and horn shape variation. Petal on Sage Planter from The Foundery. At the peak of its popularity in the mid-seventies, Lotus Pottery attracted tourists to view t...

Animails | The Foundery

https://thefoundery.wordpress.com/2016/05/28/animails

May 28, 2016. Just out from Royal Mail are these colourful Animail stamps. Designed by London studio Osborne Ross. Their brief was to design something out of the ordinary, that would appeal to children. The six stamps, like the 2013 special edition Dinosaur. Stamps, break out of the usual rectangular format, with parts of their bodies extending beyond the stamp area. Fruit and Veg Johnson Banks. Designed by London agency Johnson Banks. And if you fancy coming up with an idea Royal Mail. Click to share on...

Big Steam Print | The Foundery

https://thefoundery.wordpress.com/2016/02/03/big-steam-print

February 3, 2016. One to keep that group of people who are keen on print. Steam engines happy this summer, is the Big Steam Print project, being organised by Ditchling Museum of Art Craft. The project involves turning a 90-year-old steamroller into a giant printing press and taking it out on tour, bringing print into the community. The project is being crowdfunded through Art Happens. 28 March Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre. 23 – 24 April London Transport Museum, Acton depot open weekend. Click to e...

No snow here yet | The Foundery

https://thefoundery.wordpress.com/2016/12/24/no-snow-here-yet

December 24, 2016. No snow here yet. I’m still hoping, but as it’s raining here in the South, I think the above is the closest we’ll get. By illustrator Ferdi Afflerbach, it’s taken from ‘Popular Customs and Festivals in Switzerland’, a booklet produced by the Swiss National Tourist Office in 1986. It illustrates the festival of Klausschellen, celebrated by schoolchildren of most Glarus communities, who parade through their villages ringing bells and collecting good things to eat. Vintage A-Z: Delittle Wood Type Manufacturer | The Foundery

https://thefoundery.wordpress.com/2015/11/17/vintage-a-z-delittle-wood-type-manufacturer

November 17, 2015. Vintage A-Z: Delittle Wood Type Manufacturer. This Wood Type Specimen book was a much appreciated gift from a vintage loving friend. Published in 1928 and found in a second-hand bookshop, it was perhaps overlooked because of its well-thumbed condition. It had also been folded in storage, resulting in some tearing along the creases, but there are more than enough pages to make up for the tatty few. A page of Borders, Ornamental Flourishes and Calendar Blocks follow. Robert Duncan DeLitt...

The Founders Tavern | Archive for Hugh Bouchelle's column and comments

Hugh’s Outdoors articles. Archive for Hugh Bouchelle's column and comments. What is Trump Really Saying. July 13, 2015 by hdbpilot. I learned in the military. That there was a surprising value to having at least one loudmouth in the flight platoon. He was always the one that would say what everyone else was thinking, take the heat for saying it, and relieve the pressure off everyone else. In the current presidential candidate platoon, Trump is playing the loudmouth. According to the Center for Immigratio...
