Our Past and Our Future. Thursday, November 20, 2014. Bag The Al Dente - Easy Trick for Pasta Salad. We love pasta salad but I hate to boil pasta salad. I've tried every microwave pasta cooker, too mushy, can't do it in a crockpot. I don't like dragging out the big pot waiting for the water to boil, how come the box says boil three minutes or some such and it takes ten and Al DENTE! How do you know? Maybe it's just a quirk, but hey, I hate cooking pasta. Now to try it as a pasta salad. I added 4 chop...

Our Past and Our Future. Saturday, October 18, 2014. Fried Chicken And Mashed Potatoes. Husband had an idea for a yummy side dish and fried chicken seemed the perfect accompaniment. We like dark meat so some Foster Farm legs looked good to me. I brined them for several hours in salted water. Then I dipped them in egg wash, flour/garlic powder, buttermilk and the flour mixture again. then let them set for 1/2 hour. His side dish brought the requisite mashed potatoes up a bit in sophistication. I know you'...

Our Past & Our Future: Risotto Stuffed Peppers
http://ourpastourfuture.blogspot.com/2011/01/with-my-foray-into-indian-cuisine-ive.html
Our Past and Our Future. Monday, January 3, 2011. The ideas of taking the time to carmelize the onion and the sauteeing the rice with the onion and garlic came from things I've learned creating Indian recipes. I, also, looked at four or five risotto recipes, took a little from each and added my own ideas. That confidence definately has come from my mastering an initial learning curve with the Indian Cuisine. Risotto Stuffed Bell Pepper. 1 cup brown rice or wild rice. 1 cup diced tomatoes (I used canned).

Our Past and Our Future. Saturday, June 19, 2010. I had a head of cauliflower. It sat in the vegetable drawer begging for a chance to shine. I felt guilty and almost boiled it as my mother always had after which she would pop it in the oven topped with grated cheddar cheese. Now don’t get me wrong, I still love munching on cheesy cauliflower but my Indian cookbooks were calling me. “Celebrate that head of cauliflower! I put in a CD,. Songs That Won The War,. Since I had a large head of cauliflower. I...
