The Artist of War: Legion Basilisk/Medusa
http://www.theartistofwar.com/2016/09/legion-basiliskmedusa.html
Monday, September 19, 2016. It's finally done. The last major bit I had to build were the exhausts. I gave up on trying to make them identical to the ones on the Forgeworld model. The curves and bent tubes were just not going to happen, but I think what I built is a reasonable substitute. I added a little ammo rack in the back. The command console was made with a push mold and green stuff. I made the barrel expandible so that it can be played as either a basilisk or medusa. Right, she's done! One of the ...

The Artist of War: WIP - Ork Looted Tank
http://www.theartistofwar.com/2016/11/wip-ork-looted-tank.html
Monday, November 28, 2016. WIP - Ork Looted Tank. At this year's ModelZona I picked up the blow pictured kit for $10. I thought the aesthetic on the box screamed ORK! So I thought I'd use it to make a looted tank. After assembling the kit I started to see a bit of where I was going to go with it. I want to replace the top hatch with a larger one. I envision a large ork with a WWII style helmet and goggles. I also want to build in a view port for the driver on the front of the tank's hull. Instead of usin...

The Artist of War: WIP - Ork Looted Tank 2
http://www.theartistofwar.com/2016/12/wip-ork-looted-tank-2.html
Tuesday, December 20, 2016. WIP - Ork Looted Tank 2. A lot of work has been completed since my last posting. Many rivets and lots of plasticard later and it is nearly ready for paint. I added additional styrene to the surfaces using multiple textures including chipped edges, plasma cut, diamond plate, and some dremel work to rough it up in places. I wanted the driver to have a an awesome view port so I cut a Tamiya 1/35th scale oil drum at an angle and put it into place with some green stuff welds. The d...

http://www.theartistofwar.com/2016/11/modelzona-2016.html
Monday, November 7, 2016. There was so much armor, it wrapped around the table at the end! There were tones of autos too, these are some of my favorites. Winner - Best Auto. A big turnout for Aircraft too. Winner - Best Ship. Winner - Best Diorama. This forced perspective was really cool! Winner - Best of Figures. Winner - Best Sci-Fi. Of the six models I brought for competition all six placed in their categories. First Place Sci-Fi and Best of Sci-Fi for my Stormlord. Third Place Busts for my Ork Pilot.

The Artist of War: Ork Dakkajet Conversion
http://www.theartistofwar.com/2015/11/ork-dakkajet-conversion.html
Wednesday, November 25, 2015. A little while ago I picked up three Hasegawa Egg planes with plans to convert them into Ork Dakkajets. I thought that the comedic shape of the planes would be a perfect complement to the Ork aesthetic. I've seen a couple of other Dakkajets created from egg planes online and I loved the look. I picked the Hasegawa F4U Corsair for my conversions. Weathering effects were created using the salt technique, sponge technique as well as oil washes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Artist of War: Ork Pilot Bust - Kromlech
http://www.theartistofwar.com/2015/12/ork-pilot-bust-kromlech.html
Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Ork Pilot Bust - Kromlech. I wanted to tackle something new and Kromlech. S Ork Pilot Bust seemed just the thing. I love the model. It arrived relatively quickly at a reasonable price. The model was well cast will almost no visible mold lines or flashing. The plinth is the top from a cologne bottle and the ork pilot wings were made from a chopped up gift card. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Showcase: Sisters of Battle Canoness Veridyan. Right, she's done! One of the thi...

The Artist of War: Moving time for Pig Iron Productions
http://www.theartistofwar.com/2016/03/moving-time-for-pig-iron-productions.html
Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Moving time for Pig Iron Productions. It has come to my attention that Pig Iron Productions, a manufacturer of quality 28mm Sci-Fi models and accessories is closing shop. They had this to say on their Facebook page:. Pig Iron - Time to move on…. After much deliberation and soul searching both myself and Lisa have decided to close down Pig Iron at the end of March 2016. Sincere thanks to all the people who have purchased our miniatures and supported us in other ways over the years.

The Artist of War: Commissions
http://www.theartistofwar.com/p/commissions.html
I've completed a few commission pieces in the past. As I love to paint, but don't play too much I frequently sell off my painted models to make more room on my shelf. I still take a limited number of commissions. Interested parties can drop me a line, I generally charge around twice retail cost of the model but my lead times can be a little long. TYPHUS LORD OF NURGLE. GAMES WORKSHOP - CHAOS. Overall a fun model to paint, so many possibilities for great paint schemes. Forge World - IMPERIAL FISTS. This p...
