the gift of disability

The gift of disability. Saturday, January 1, 2011. Before retirement, I worked with persons with disabilities. What I admire most about those I know who have disabilities is their empathy, courage, persistence, patience, kindness, generosity, and dogged determination that their disability will not inhibit their lives or diminish their self-worth. BLESSED ARE THE MEEK. A man carrying a backpack, wearing worn sneakers and needing a shave entered the room and apologized for being late because he had missed ...

the gift of disability: BLESSED ARE THE POOR

http://thegiftofdisability.blogspot.com/2011/01/blessed-are-poor.html

The gift of disability. Saturday, January 1, 2011. BLESSED ARE THE POOR. She keeps an empty tin can on the windowsill above her kitchen sink. It is in plain sight on purpose. On the can is a black silhouette of a pig and the words A pork food product donated by the people of the United States Hunger Program. It serves as a reminder of the day she went to the food closet and brought home a bag of groceries for her children's supper. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Original photographs and text.

The gift of disability. Saturday, January 1, 2011. BLESSED ARE THE PURE OF HEART. In spite of her life long battle with depression, Mom was grateful for everything she had and felt a responsibility for others less fortunate. She visited nursing homes and took us along. She cared for my Dad for many years when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer. She advocated for social justice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Original photographs and text. BLESSED ARE THE MEEK. thru the looking glass: survivor symptoms

http://thrulookinglass-backwhen.blogspot.com/2007/03/survivor-symptoms.html

Thru the looking glass. Tim Field’s list (in part) of survivor symptoms due to bullying:. An overwhelming desire for acknowledgement, understanding, recognition and validation of their experience. 8232;A simultaneous and paradoxical unwillingness to talk about it. A lack of desire for revenge, but a strong motivation for justice. A tendency to oscillate between conciliation (forgiveness) and anger (revenge) with objectivity being the main casualty. A feeling of being small, insignificant, and invisible.

thru the looking glass: finding our way

http://thrulookinglass-backwhen.blogspot.com/2007/06/putting-pieces-together.html

Thru the looking glass. Persons who have been constantly bullied, and do not understand why, can easily lose their bearings. It's possible, in time, for them to accept abuse as a way of life. Then it becomes difficult to return to normalcy without outside intervention. Abused persons should know that bullying is all about the person doing it, not the person being abused. For targeted persons, abuse can affect every aspect of their lives, including self-esteem. Page views by country. The gift of disability.

Thru the looking glass. If you have found your way to this site, chances are you or someone you love has or is being bullied. My purpose in creating this site is to inform and educate. I do this by presenting the wisdom and words of others- professionals in the field and experts (those who have experienced bullying) One question remains. Does one EVER get over bullying? Only those (and their professional counselors) who have been through it can answer the question. Why is it so hard to defend oneself?

thru the looking glass: calling the kettle black?

http://thrulookinglass-backwhen.blogspot.com/2006/01/pots-and-kettles.html

Thru the looking glass. Calling the kettle black? ARE we calling the kettle black? In the children's fairytale, what did the witch do after she saw Snow White's image in the looking glass? She brewed a concoction in her kettle. Her purpose was to eliminate her competition. Someone suggested we were robbing the bully of her humanity by listing bullying traits. Our purpose is not to annihilate bullies but to identify them by their traits and behaviors because those they target tend to blame themselves.
