The Glass Furnace

Thursday, May 19, 2011. ********** Roleup Part 1. I decide to step back in time and post my steps for rolling a **********. Start with a sheet of steel. It comes in 4ft. x 8ft. sheets. Go as heavy as you can. I'm using 14 gauge. Only 1 needed. I'll look up cost and edit this post. Since my frax (fibre blanket) is 24inches wide, I need to allow for a 2 inch heat ring and 2 inch back. Total steel width = 28inches. Posted by Steve Rekstad. Friday, March 11, 2011. Cast the front heat ring. Scene of the crime:.

The Glass Furnace: Skutt, welcome to the family

http://theglassfurnace.blogspot.com/2009/06/skutt-welcome-to-family.html

Sunday, June 7, 2009. Skutt, welcome to the family. I picked up an old Skutt kiln yesterday. The first piece to my own glass studio setup. The plan is to be able to work my skills at home on two gather pieces and still rent Foci time for larger work. Next steps, another kiln, constructing a glory hole and wiring. The Glass Furnace: August 2009

http://theglassfurnace.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 12, 2009. 2009-8-11 Optic Mold Mayhem. It happens every time, I relive the sequence of events in my head long after the glass blowing session is done. Last nights "excitement" was with an optic mold. Scene of the crime:. First gather great, actually my bubble blew out easy. I've been working on getting my thumb parallel with the blowpipe which seems to be helping. Second gather I air marvered, picked up a green / blue mixture of frit #2 and blew it out slightly.
