http://mirandathom.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
We recommend things to you. Things we think you should experience or do. the things in question are usually cultural. Thursday, May 20, 2010. What more can you give or risk than a life? It's been a long time since I stayed up all night reading a book, but that is exactly what I did the other day with Every Man Dies Alone. ACHTUNG, that's an AMAZON link) by Hans Fallada. Don't worry, FTC, that was Wikipedia! Every Man Dies Alone. Every Man Dies Alone. While the translation is a bit stilted, particularly t...

We recommend things to you. Things we think you should experience or do. the things in question are usually cultural. Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Do as I Read, Not as I Do. Note that for the purposes of this blog post, I define grad school as the process of studying for advanced degrees that prepare one for an academic career. On with today's recommendations! 1 Graduate Study for the Twenty-First Century: How to Build an Academic Career in the Humanities. 2 Learning Teaching by Jim Scrivener. Caveat: I h...

We recommend things to you. Things we think you should experience or do. the things in question are usually cultural. Saturday, February 27, 2010. Take me down to the action city where the carpet's green and the mice are pretty. Today's recommendation is simple, but probably rather pricey. It is Drs. Foster and Smith Cat Furniture. It is called "action city" though in my cats' case, I think "inaction city" would be more likely. That is, they like to nap there. If the semester releases its vise grip from ...

We recommend things to you. Things we think you should experience or do. the things in question are usually cultural. Saturday, March 6, 2010. Media, Sexuality, Children. Today's recommendation is The Lolita Effect: The Media Sexualization of Young Girls and What We Can Do About It. By M Gigi Durham, PhD. The only real loser here is Vladimir Nabokov, whose Lolita. As a pedant, I must inform you that the edition I read (clearance hardcover for the win! Teachers, parents, and others who care for young girl...

We recommend things to you. Things we think you should experience or do. the things in question are usually cultural. Friday, December 24, 2010. Everything's eventual" (apologies to Stephen King). So, this blog is over. Dead. Ended. It seems fitting I should post this on Christmas Eve, the internet equivalent of shrieking into a vacuum. The reasons for this blog's demise are twofold, and both indescribably painful:. 1 The last post. And, more recently and painfully,. 1 New personal blog: Operemur Bonum/.

We recommend things to you. Things we think you should experience or do. the things in question are usually cultural. Monday, June 14, 2010. The most important recommendation i can make to you. Every time I have tried to write this since December 2008, I have gotten physically ill and just couldn't do it. But today i am forcing myself to. I know I'm going to be sick the rest of the day, but I have to do this. Consider this entry an open letter to the CEO of Pets Mart, Philip Francis. Dear Mr. Francis:.

We recommend things to you. Things we think you should experience or do. the things in question are usually cultural. Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Today's recommendation is simple. Today's recommendation is not tattooing your cat. I realize I'm about a week behind the curve on this, but that's just how I roll. You may look at your beloved feline friend and think, "You're purr-fect, but you know what you need? A giant picture of King Tut on your chest." But you know what? Thus, not tattooing your cat.

Style, fashion and life. Although it’s still only April and the weather has been beyond awful with showers, hail stones etc. the high street. Is awash with colour. The Aztec. Tribal and Pastel trends luckily lend themselves perfectly to a holiday wardrobe! One of my absolute favourites is this coral skirt. The holiday staple has to be these denim shorts.
