Directions to The Tunnel House. From M4 Junction 18:. Follow A46 towards BATH. At the first roundabout junction with A420 take A420 RIGHT towards BRISTOL. Stay on A420 until you see an ESSO garage on R.H.S. – after villages Approx. 4 miles. Turn Left onto Ring Road (dual carriage way). Stay on Ringroad (until 3rd roundabout junction with A4). Take A4 towards Bath. Follow A4 into SALTFORD. Turn left just before Vauxhall Car Dealers after Pelican Crossing. Drive 100yards to ‘T’ Junction. To The Tunnel House.

The Tunnel House

The Tunnel House was built in 1744, probably for the Reverend Haviland John Hiley, Rector of Saltford between 1712 and 1754. In 1836 is was bought by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the famous engineer who built the Great Western Railway. Brunel built Saltford Tunnel directly under the house and it still carries the GWR mainline railway today, hence the name. To The Tunnel House. Http:/ www.streetmap.co.uk. Back to the main page.
