CorpusMOOC Weeks 6-7 | Corpus Linguistics 4 EFL
https://corpling4efl.wordpress.com/2016/11/13/corpusmooc-weeks-6-7
Corpus Linguistics 4 EFL. Corpus aided language teaching. November 13, 2016. November 14, 2016. These weeks are probably the most pertinent for this blog; they both focus on corpus linguistics influence and use in language learning. DDL was only briefly discussed, I think, because it is expected that reading the literature about it would be clearer than trying to explain it in a lecture. CorpusMOOC week 8 | Corpus Linguistics 4 EFL
https://corpling4efl.wordpress.com/2016/11/28/corpusmooc-week-8

Week 8’s lecture content focused on ‘bad language’: swears, insults, and other sorts of uncouth language. The build-up to week 8 didn’t quite match the actual event imo, but in a good way. It seemed to me that ‘bad language’ week was in-a-way marketed as a wild, fun, here-we-go kind of thing. And it was fun! Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Corpus Linguistics 4 EFL. Corpus aided language teaching. To not mention*, it just feels right. To not mention*, it just feels right. December 7, 2016. December 7, 2016. Has a great post at his site. Discussing the patterns “not to VERB” and “to not VERB”. He writes about his students’ reactions to the constructions, his own view, and some findings from Google N-grams and COCA. You should read his post in full. Let me explain. Here are two partial lines from COCA (query terms: not to mention):. In this c...
