the grape and the grain

Friday, May 8, 2009. Bun in the oven! Ok so I have to apologise for my lack of posts on here in recent months…. but I found out I'm pregnant on our 1st wedding anniversay back in February! So I've been busy "baking" the past couple of months, just not the usual kind! I'm hoping to get back into the kitchen more regularly soon, we'll be looking for a new home over coming weeks, so once we've settled in I am sure I'll be stocking up the pantry and putting the oven to work. Just don't blame me if some o...

the grape and the grain: Event: "Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris" book signing

http://thegrapeandthegrain.blogspot.com/2008/12/event-edible-adventures-in-paris-book.html

Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Event: "Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris" book signing. Last month I had the incredible fortune to attend the booksigning event for " Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris. On Tuesday 18th November at WH Smith. On Rue de Rivoli in Paris. The book is written by Clotilde Dusoulier who is the author of the foodie blog Chocolate and Zucchini. Store had just opened up. A not so great photo taken outside the store. Getting my book signed by Clotilde. Afterwards I left the sto...

the grape and the grain: October 2008

http://thegrapeandthegrain.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 30, 2008. I went along to the last night of the Noodle Markets last Friday (part of Good Food Month in Sydney) with a couple of friends and we had a great evening. We arrived just after 6pm and it was already very busy, I guess a lot of people working in the city were going there straight after work, but we found the queues were not too long and there was plenty of food to choose from. Before we headed out of the city and off to our current local pub. Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Just a...

the grape and the grain: Easy yummy roast dinner

http://thegrapeandthegrain.blogspot.com/2008/10/easy-yummy-roast-dinner.html

Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Easy yummy roast dinner. Just a quick post to share some pics that I took of a yummy quick and easy roast dinner I cooked early in October. I had bought a new 500mm lens for my SLR the day before so couldn't resist testing it out on a yummy roast and I'm very happy with how the photos turned out. Good job, the photos did come up nicely! I think you mentioned them a few weeks ago, but I didn't see them till now. November 3, 2008 at 8:29 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

the grape and the grain: Decadence to the Max!

http://thegrapeandthegrain.blogspot.com/2008/10/decadence-to-max.html

Friday, October 24, 2008. Decadence to the Max! Yesterday my hubby and I had to run some errands in the city, mainly changing my name over to my married name (finally! We got married in Feb this year) as well as a dental checkup. I can happily report that my teeth are all in great condition so all that was required was a clean and I was done! Now has a store in the Met Centre near Wynyard! The first time I ever went to/had anything from Max Brenner was at Manly on this cold blustery day, so hot chocolate...

Chocolate Macarons with Chocolate Buttercream | Berries and Pie

http://berriesandpie.blogspot.com/2009/08/chocolate-macarons-with-chocolate.html

Baking, cooking, recipes, eating, and obsessing over food. Friday, August 21, 2009. Chocolate Macarons with Chocolate Buttercream. The first time I attempted macarons. They broke me. There were literally tears. Tears, and a stack of leftover rosewater buttercream. It was awhile before I felt ready to talk about it, but I think I'm there now. 2 batches of macarons that actually look like macarons later, and I'm feeling a lot better. Now, they were not perfect by any means, but they were. As far as I under...

http://berriesandpie.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Baking, cooking, recipes, eating, and obsessing over food. Monday, May 25, 2009. I don't know why I waited for the mercury to drop to decide I NEEDED to make more ice-cream. I mean, there's nothing quite like a frozen dessert on a cold night to warm your cockles, is there? Hubby is a BIG ice-cream fan anyway, meaning it never gets wasted, so who's complaining? 400ml tin of coconut cream. 1/2 cup of sugar. Pour into a 1L capacity container and freeze. This makes a bit more than half a litre. When the ...

Baking, cooking, recipes, eating, and obsessing over food. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Fig and Gingerbread Biscuits. As the weather heats up and Christmas draws ever closer, my desire to cook seems to rise with the mercury. So it was, when my Mum told me about some fig and ginger biscuits she was enjoying, I was inspired to create my own version. Last year around this time Fiona, from The Grape and The Grain, and I found a seriously amazing recipe with a twist on gingerbread. 2 Combine the golden syrup, b...

Baking, cooking, recipes, eating, and obsessing over food. Thursday, September 23, 2010. Eating in Jindabyne and Perisher, NSW's Snowy Mountains. One of the (many, poor) excuses I have for my extended absence here is this: almost every spare moment of my winter has been spent sliding down a mountain. Having said that, it's not all bad news. Especially once you get. I've previously blogge about the fabulous Wild Brumby Schnapps Distillery. And my ongoing love affair with Crackenback Cottage. There's a sma...

Fruit Mince Pies | Berries and Pie

http://berriesandpie.blogspot.com/2009/12/fruit-mince-pies.html

Baking, cooking, recipes, eating, and obsessing over food. Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Last year I posted on making your own fruit mince, but spirit of Christmas and all, I thought it a timely occasion to elaborate. I love my fruit mince pies as much as the next gal/guy/tentacled snow-lizard, but the store-bought ones have nothing on the home-made brandy-rich variety you baked in your kitchen. You can make your fruit mince to taste: don't like nuts? Don't add them; candied fruit peel not your thing?

Baking, cooking, recipes, eating, and obsessing over food. Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Choc-Mint Royals - Daring Bakers July 2009! The July Daring Bakers' challenge was hosted by Nicole at Sweet Tooth. She chose Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Cookies and Milan Cookies from pastry chef Gale Gand of the Food Network. There was a flash of light and a loud, crackling, electrical hum. I have to admit, I freaked. I did somehow maintain the presence of mind to turn the oven off before. Look at all that chocolatey go...

Apricot Jam and Chocolate Cupcakes with Rosewater and Vanilla Bean Buttercream | Berries and Pie

http://berriesandpie.blogspot.com/2009/05/apricot-jam-and-chocolate-cupcakes-with.html

Baking, cooking, recipes, eating, and obsessing over food. Monday, May 11, 2009. Apricot Jam and Chocolate Cupcakes with Rosewater and Vanilla Bean Buttercream. Say that 5 times fast! After a weekend of spectacularly failed macarons, I was left with containers full of delicious buttercream filling in my fridge. Lacking my planned home-cooked Mothers' Day presents, the humble cupcake came swiftly to the rescue. I thought it might add a bit of interest. For the chocolate cupcakes:. 3 tbspn orange juice.
