The great California adventure-tweens and me! Saturday, July 24, 2010. We made it back home, isn't it always good to get back no matter how much fun you had! Temperature yesterday pegged out at 99deg and back here, we'll be lucky to see 65 (it does seem cold). Very uneventful drive with no stops except for food and gas. We were going to stop at Territorial Seeds (favorite for planting) but somehow missed the exit (would it be that I was talking to Ms. Territorial herself, Julie, at the time?

The great California adventure-tweens and me! Wednesday, July 21, 2010. 6:00am.sniff-sniff-sniff. Sniff-sniff-sniff. Thump-thump-thump. Apparently Genevieve (Genny) did not know that I had driven in LA, shopped until we dropped and then arrived late into Santa Cruz. Genny awoke me early this morning and wanted to play. The great California adventure-tweens and me! Friday, July 9, 2010. Today the goal was to get as much highway behind us as possible but in a reasonable dose. We made it to our goal, east of Sacramento. The temperature never went below 90degF for the entire interstate with a peak of 103deg somewhere around Redding. No desire to get out of the car and do anything outside under the circumstances. Mt Shasta was very impressive and there was more water in Shasta Lake than I can remember in the past decade.

Wednesday, September 29, 2010. We celebrated Iris's birthday today! We are so fortunate in our small community to have such a strong commitment to exchange students from AFS and Rotary. I don't remember a single, exchange student from my high school days in San Diego and the school had 3x's the number of students than this one in Newport. Credit must be given to those who have organized and promoted these exchanges for many years! Kudos to you Evelyn and company. It surely helps and this village rocks!
