The dry rub had a touch of heat, via smoked Indian paprika. Nice facet, but one to be used carefully. I could see a variation which uses a wet rub instead of dry, and used a touch of honey and vi negar. Altogether. 8 hours in the fridge with the rub, followed by 6 hours on the grill, with the last few hours adding a slather of sauce every 30 minutes or so.

Garden is all done, Pigs have gone to piggy heaven, and half of the turkey's have all attended a Thanksgiving dinner. The last batch is waiting in the wings for the week before Xmas. When are we finally going to stand up and tell them to just shut up, sit down, and be quiet? OBTW it really is OK to say "Merry Christmas"! So do it, a lot!
