Katie's Tales From Mozambique: July 2007
http://katiestalesfrommozambique.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 29, 2007. Am I Supposed to Eat the Hoof? I had a flashback today to a Sunday a few years ago when my family visited an African-American church- yes, my very tall and very white family, this was not a "Where's Waldo" situation. We went not looking for rhythm lessons, although needed, but because a baby was being dedicated whom (or is it who? Else witnessed my mom clapping in church? Njoying the service that turned about to be 3 hours long! This service was drastically different from the rural...

Katie's Tales From Mozambique: June 2008
http://katiestalesfrommozambique.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 8, 2008. One thing I have in common with Lloyd Christmas is that we both hate goodbyes. And yes, that is ALL we have in common- the similarities stop there. (If you're asking yourself, "who is Lloyd Christmas? Please understand that my roommate Jenny and I watched Dumb and Dumber at least 15 times our freshman year since the only other movie we had was Beaches. Jim Carey. Do you remember the beloved elephant? Next is Cecelia and her children- Oliver, Viktor. This was one of those times.

Katie's Tales From Mozambique: October 2007
http://katiestalesfrommozambique.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 25, 2007. 15 Reasons I've been laughing it up in Maputo:. 1) My ninth and tenth graders are hilarious. Here's the "goofy" shot. I can't decide who makes me laugh more, the "Mk dorks," cross-eyed Marie or too-tough Domingos who is normally always smiling. 2) Babysitting Swedish kids. Babysitters' Club Meets Maputo! Any other Babysitters' Club fans? We went to the pool and played in the water until I ran out of, "Can you do this? 3) Henrik taught me a new way to distort my face. The pictu...

Katie's Tales From Mozambique: Back to California
http://katiestalesfrommozambique.blogspot.com/2008/07/back-to-california.html
Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Sitting in my car stopped at a red light, my car suddenly began to shake violently. Within a few seconds, many thoughts whizzed in and out of my brain. Here was my thought process: "Hoodlums are jumping on my car! But looking outside and seeing no one, my next thought was, "Did I accidentally lock someone in my trunk? No, that's silly Katie. But could someone have crawled in to play a joke? All of them have exploded at once! Thus I quickly hit the hazards, ripped off my seat belt.

Katie's Tales From Mozambique: September 2007
http://katiestalesfrommozambique.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 27, 2007. Getting to know Lindsay! I was so sad when Aisha moved and asked God if it wouldn't be too much to ask Him to answer the same prayer again and provide another friend. And lo and behold, He answered again! Lindsay showed up from Texas to teach 2nd grade, we clicked right away and I now have a new running partner! OK, I have to post this next picture as well because it is so frightening. Getting yelled at by a one-legged man. There is one dog that we usually run past and the o...

Katie's Tales From Mozambique: August 2007
http://katiestalesfrommozambique.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 20, 2007. The opportunity to go to Kruger National Park. And see big game in their natural habitat. (Question: are they called, "game" for hunting purposes? Just curious) I actually was in a situation where my life was threatened and sadly, I did not think to try to convince the demon-possessed beast. This may be the jinxes of all jinxes but it is where I want to come on. My honeymoon. I suppose I have to meet someone first yeah? Minor detail. The beauty in this park is unlike anything...

Katie's Tales From Mozambique: May 2008
http://katiestalesfrommozambique.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 31, 2008. Trav and Emma's pictures. I realize this has nothing to do with my "tales from Mozambique" but I need to take a moment and brag about my family. I just looked at Trav. And Emma's engagement pictures and they are INCREDIBLE! And then clicking on the "blog" button and scrolling down to find Trav. And was sporting the classic french braid. As I looked the model joining our family I couldn't help but think, "Crap. I am not ready for the. Again" One thing I have loved about living in A...

http://katiestalesfrommozambique.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 17, 2007. Departure date: July 12. In less than 1 month I will be boarding a plane and begin my year in Maputo, Mozambique! Many people have asked if I'm ready to go. Well, I'm ready mentally but there are still some logistical things that must be taken care of. (ie- getting shots, getting my visa approved, packing, etc.) Since I last updated the blog I have been preparing in a number of ways:. 1- I got to meet with Barbosa, Sinara, and Rafael! No Hot Pockets necessary:). There is no one lik...

Blashill Sounds Like Babcock, But Will Talk Be Cheap? On June 15, 2015. Jeff Blashill isn’t Canadian. But he sure sounds like he is. In fact, he sure sounds like his predecessor and mentor, Mike Babcock. If you listened to Blashill, the new Red Wings coach, speak at Tuesday’s introductory presser especially with your eyes closed it was like you stepped into a time machine and traveled back to the summer of 2005. That’s when the Red Wings hired Babcock. Enter Babcock’s Mini Me. Blashill, born in Detroit a...
