Going back to Summerfest! I'm not sure how or why I've been so lucky these last few years. Now five years into this “adventure” and living hundreds of miles away, we managed to return to Summerfest. Every year - at least for the last few years. I leave wondering if it will be my last trip to the World's Largest Music Festival. But every year it offers something to get me back, and for the most part the schedule works out in my favor. . If this is my last year - for a while. It was a heckuva way to go out.

John and I took a weeklong vacation and spent the time exploring Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago. Why? Except for a January visit to Chicago for work, I’d never been to the Midwest. Complete pictures on Flickr. They stop here too. I am inexplicably proud of this photo. We see lending libraries throughout Madison. A sculpture in front of an apartment building. What a great stop for watching people. John gets up early. I’m so used to AirBnB and hotels that I forgot the small pleasures of a good B&B, ...

Image via Maxwell Thomas Haning, 2012. Local's Guide: Madison, Wisconsin. Bassett Street Brunch Club. 444 W Johnson Street. As the name suggests, this is a brunch spot. A good brunch spot, at that. Brunch Club serves breakfast all day, a win in my book. Their menu features typical American cuisine and fantastic donuts, crafted from scratch and baked homemade daily in-house. Look no further - their bottomless mimosas are popular with the city's college crowd. 122 West Mifflin Street. 449 Grand Canyon Drive.
