The kids are away at camp for a few days so we finally snuck up to Byron Bay, which had been top of of our list to visit. 500 miles north of Sydney, Byron is a series of small towns full of backpackers, surfers, foodies, and old hippies. It features miles-long beaches with hardly a soul on them and heaps of renowned restaurants. We had a relaxing 48 getaway with lots of good eating, though truth be told, it didn’t totally live up the area’s massive hype. 2015 2017 - Harads Down Under.

We were all pretty dazzled by Hastings Cave, near the very bottom of Tasmania. It’s a 60 million year old cave beneath a hot spring in the middle of the rain forest. Got some good earth science lessons in so we know our stalactites from our stalagmites - many of which take about 100,000 years to grow just one meter long! 2015 2017 - Harads Down Under.

Our favorite outing in Tassie was the Treetops ropes course we did outside of Launceston in the north. All of us achieved PBs (personal bests) taking on challenging rope obstacles at varying levels above the ground. We all learned how to double click in.
