Fashion / home / beauty / life. March 8, 2017. It’s no secret that “pink is my signature color,” so I am over the moon to see all of the shades of pale blush that spring is bringing. It seems that last year’s Pantone color of the year isn’t going anywhere. There’s something so sweet and dainty about the pale pink shade. I’ve already picked up this pretty blush ruffled top. But I don’t plan on stopping there! Or this sheer cardigan. May be next on my list. You can never have too many cardigans! Off the sh...

Fashion / home / beauty / life. June 13, 2016. There is a reason that Olivia Palermo is a street-style icon – her look is always elegant, chic, and effortless. She mixes on-trend pieces, like an off-the-shoulder top, with classic pieces, like black sunglasses and distressed denim. This look is so easy to recreate & I love the pop of color added by her floral loafers. It’s perfect for a weekend stroll or lunch. May 2, 2016. Here’s how you can get the look yourself:. March 16, 2016. March 11, 2015.

Fashion / home / beauty / life. Beauty Protector – Protect & Detangle. July 16, 2015. Today I want to share a hair product that has changed my life! I decided to give it a try. I’ve been using it daily ever since and cannot praise it enough! First, it smells great! While not critical, it’s always a nice treat to have good-smelling products. Second, it detangles! Third, it protects! Fourth, it lightly conditions! As I said, my fine hair leans toward oily, so I can’t deal with heavy conditioners. They ...

Musings on life, love and literature. I’ve been an aspiring writer for as long as I can remember. Here’s some of the resources that I’ve found particularly helpful:. 1 Stephen King’s On Writing. Is half memoir and half tutorial. It’s a must for anyone who loves his books or is interested in the craft of writing. His no-nonsense approach gives some insight into what it takes to write a novel. He also offers tips, writing prompts and other advice for aspiring writers. One thought on “ Writing. I taught wri...
My thoughts on New Jersey’s new adoption law | Hydrangea Reads
https://hydrangeareads.wordpress.com/2014/05/28/285
Musings on life, love and literature. My thoughts on New Jersey’s new adoption law. I am lucky to have been placed with a truly amazing family. I know that not every adoptee is so lucky. That is, perhaps, why I was uneasy when I learned of the New Jersey law. What if an adoptee is not as lucky? What if a birth parent is not what the adoptee expects? What safe guards are there to ensure that an adoptee approaches a search, not as an escape, but as a person seeking knowledge? Five Minute Friday: Choose.

Musings on life, love and literature. Five Minute Friday: Truth. Posted in Five Minute Friday. It’s Friday again, which means it’s time for a Five Minute Friday. With Lisa-Jo Baker. Today’s prompt is: Truth. The first question that comes to mind is – what is the truth? The second question becomes one of worth. Once you realize how much of what is good in your life is true – you must confront the question – am I worthy? Am I a true friend? Am I always true to my relationship? First Submission ». Musings on life, love and literature. So yesterday I submitted a short story to a competition. It’s titled ‘No Contact’ and is a revision of a story I wrote in a college creative writing class. I’ve been revisiting some old work and stumbled across this one. My professor had noted that the story had great potential. Results are announced on Feb 28, after that I’ll either post a link to the published piece (hopefully! Or the whole story (if all else fails) here. Five Minute Friday: Truth. Join 19 other fo...

The first time… | Hydrangea Reads

Musings on life, love and literature. The first time…. Here’s another writing prompt. From Writer’s Write. The first time I saw him was September 9, 2011. It was a Friday night. A friend gave me tickets to an art opening. I figured it would be a good excuse to get dressed up and drink wine. I still remember exactly what I was wearing – a black/white cocktail dress, my grandmothers jet beads and heels. I had recently reverted to my natural hair color. The message she found. Musings on life, love and literature. In a recent article. Stephen King discussed opening lines. My favorite opening line is from. 8211; “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.” Immediately I wanted to know who the speaker was, what Manderley was and why she couldn’t go back. So much feeling and promise contained in nine words. So intimidating to a would-be writer! To find out more about how it works. I participated last year, but sadly did not get very far. This year I am determined to g...Enter...

Musings on life, love and literature. After making my first submission last month, I’ve decided to start entering more competitions. Of course that means I’ll have to be writing more, but I need to do that anyway. Next up is a short story to CrazyHorse. For their short fiction competition. I have until Jan 31 to submit and have no ideas! I’m hoping something will come of my attempts from the various writing prompts I work from. Five Minute Friday: Tree. Books That Touched My Life ». Musings on life, love and literature. Books That Touched My Life. An old friend, and fellow English major, recently took a break from grading papers and asked for us to list the ten books that have touched our lives. I listed my ten on facebook, but wanted to also give a little insight here into how each book has affected me. Here’s my ten:. 4 Rebecca – Daphne du Maurier: I am always amazed that du Maurier could craft an entire novel without revealing the name of the central character. It’...5 On Wr...

My previous system using Target $ Spot Coupon organizer. Also, as you can see, I overfilled this one and it falls out to the side now. This is because I also included my scrapbook stickers in here for a while- and it clearly was too much. I’ve since moved those to a new home. Monday, November 22, 2010. A few things i've learned lately. Front wheel drive is better than rear wheel. If you tell a guy that you can sing he is going to want to hear you sing no matter how many times you say no. Dark eyes look really honest and trusting. If you go out of your way to meet new people you will. The first time you give out your number it will be freakin. Kiosk guys don't care if you have a boyfriend or are freakishly younger than you. Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Life in the fast lane. I am also suprised to find that the loads of second hand smoke i inhale everyday have not caused my left lung to collapse. i also need to keep my barriers up, because the temptation to light up seems stronger when i've had a couple drinks. root me on in the name of health. Now i know that it sounds like i've become an alcoholic drop-out, but don't you worry! I will come back in one piece. but with a new liver. ha! More positive, less negative.
