The Stuff About Bold Men – KENYAN TIMES
https://kenyantimes.wordpress.com/2015/03/31/the-stuff-about-bold-men?share=email
Na Tujenge Taifa Letu. The Stuff About Bold Men. Who then will survive the test of time? It is he who serves men with his art, for his art and for his God. It is he who will never forget where he came from because roads that spread on mountains come from lowly places. The mountain climber forgets not his journey. The stuff about bold men is legendary. Na Tujenge Taifa Letu. Back To The Beginning; Poetry & God. You must understand poetry if you are to understand God. How else do you explain the death of a seed deep into the soil that sprouts into a tree for a salvation story with your carnal mind? Poetry calls you to look at things with a third eye. Most of us never want to dig deep into anything. How do you expect to find the meaning of life by ending your search at the top of the well? You want to see the water, but you do not want to bend. PS: We ar...

Things Parents Should Know – KENYAN TIMES

Na Tujenge Taifa Letu. Things Parents Should Know. When children come into a family, of course there are many adjustments a couple has to make; like increasing food intake and better budget planning of how money will be spent – at least for struggling families. It takes so much energy to accommodate new people who come between a relationship. Yes, and children need even more energy, especially emotional. Who goes to school to learn about God? All my CRE teachers through to A-Level just taught me how to p...

Na Tujenge Taifa Letu. How Do Writers Get Sustainable Inspiration? Kap Kirwork, Richard Crompton and Kinyanjui Kombani were last Saturday’s main speakers at the second edition of the thirteen week long Creatives’ Academy that’s being held at Daystar University, Valley Road Campus. They were creating conversation and reflection around what it takes for a writer to have sustainable energy to keep at their work and be able to exhibit splendid quality and rhythm while at it. I Blame the Sky. Eat, Pray, Love.

My Muslim Friends – KENYAN TIMES

Na Tujenge Taifa Letu. When I was lost in Malindi back in 2004 on my suicide mission, every person who fed me and helped me until I got somewhere safe was a Muslim. I bless those guys. I pray that they live long and that they may prosper. Majority of us (Christians), if not all, have contacts in our phonebooks belonging to Muslims. They are our Facebook friends, our neighbours and some even family. Shall we succumb to the poison of the enemy that induces this phobia? Do we really know each other? Click t...

Na Tujenge Taifa Letu. My mother’s story is an example of replicated experiences across many developing countries. I certainly do not know what led to the first miscarriage but I have an idea of what catapulted the second – she overworked her body. It’s the house girl that told me this. But you see who even teaches us (men) about what a woman goes through during her nine months of gravidity? Here are sample messages:. Kiptoo is now 3 months old. Your child should now be able to hold his head up while...

Nairobi’s Street Poetry – KENYAN TIMES
https://kenyantimes.wordpress.com/2015/02/01/nairobis-street-poetry
Na Tujenge Taifa Letu. Nairobi’s Street Poetry. Every last Sunday of the month, Nairobi’s poetry lovers converge at the Aga Khan Walk to listen to poetry and music from great poets, novices, non-poets, and amazing musicians. This event, founded by one Stephen Musyoka (Poppa Stevo) with support from the founder of Hisia Zangu Poetry Workshop, Namatsi Lukoye, has grown over time to earn a profound niche in Nairobi’s literary scene. I was there last weekend, and managed to capture a few moments on camera.

Business, Friendship & Kenyan Poetry – KENYAN TIMES
https://kenyantimes.wordpress.com/2014/12/13/business-friendship-kenyan-poetry
Na Tujenge Taifa Letu. Business, Friendship and Kenyan Poetry. February, 2011, when I first performed my poetry in the public domain at THE BOGOF, there was much to be scared about; like what would be my next step after getting out of that stage, which other event would I showcase my work in, who would like me, who wouldn’t? Do we want to make performance poetry a thriving industry or are we just comfortable with the hype? Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Click to share on Reddit (Opens i...
