Navigating the Foreign Service. A Little About Me. Wǒ néng jiǎng Zhǒng wén? Through the First Gate. June 30, 2010. I honestly intended to write more frequently in this blog, somewhere around one or two entries a week. Clearly that hasn’t been happening. But today is definitely a good day for a post because I found out that I passed the FSOT! Ok, so about the news. I want to know my score! One would expect that a letter stating that you had passed would include your passing score. Apparently, thatR...

Dead Men Working: AAD and AFSA: Complicit in the Foreign Service Image Problem
http://deadmenworking.blogspot.com/2015/04/aad-and-afsa-complicit-in-foreign.html
Wednesday, April 15, 2015. AAD and AFSA: Complicit in the Foreign Service Image Problem. The American Foreign Service has an image problem. It is perceived by the American public and by many in Congress as elitist and out of touch with the lives of ordinary Americans. The American Academy of Diplomacy and its supporters and funders in AFSA contribute to the problem by using the term themselves and demonstrating, with remarkable skill, the reason why Americans find them out of touch. Defining the Foreign ...

Back to New York | The Uncommon Life

Interesting sights along the road less traveled. Back to New York. This weekend I made a quick trip to NYC – not my first trip (that was in 2011. However, word of advice for anyone thinking of going: avoid the summer months! The heat wears on you after a while, way too many tourists, plus we managed to get stuck in weekend beach traffic making for a very long bus ride. Next time we’re going in the winter! The Chrysler Building, one of my favorites:. By theuncommonlife on August 13, 2012.

Interesting sights along the road less traveled. What I’ve been up to since I posted last. So I’ve been taking a self-imposed hiatus of sorts from blogging over the past few months, decided it was time to start updating it again. We’ll see how long it lasts, but hoping to post things on at least a somewhat regular basis! As you can see, I’ve been toying with black and white photography a bit – kind of cool what you can do with it! In late October, I had the chance to visit Dakar, Senegal for work. It...

Interesting sights along the road less traveled. Bidding Season has begun. As you can probably guess by the lack of posts, the past few months have been a bit hectic. Between classes, family, and everything else, I’ve definitely had my hands full! However, now that things are slowing down a bit I thought I’d try to get this blog going again. New York City trip | The Uncommon Life
https://theuncommonlife.wordpress.com/2011/02/22/new-york-city-trip
Interesting sights along the road less traveled. New York City trip. Lately I’ve been a bit busy with work and other things in my life, so this week I decided it was time for a break. Being on the East Coast now, I took advantage of the holiday weekend and headed up to New York City for a few days of fun. The trip went pretty well! Still, I was at least able to get my kimchi fix🙂. New York City’s Koreatown. My bus back to DC wasn’t until Monday evening, so I spent my last morning in NYC checking o...
