Personal Adventures in History: Best Ways to Tell History
http://personaladventuresinhistory.blogspot.com/2009/07/best-ways-to-tell-history.html
Personal Adventures in History. Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Best Ways to Tell History. What is bringing this issue to the fore at the moment is my reflections on a recent trip to the Land of Lincoln. I was there on business, to meet with the Lincoln National Heritage Area. The heritage area has a well branded wayside marker program across the state. The centerpiece of the Lincoln experience in Springfield is the Old State Capitol. There was obviously a movement towards historic preservation in the area and I...

Balza Travels: July 2013
http://balzatravels.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Highlights of some of our travels through the U.S. and the World. Saturday, July 13, 2013. We spent a hot, muggy night outside Topeka and then started to cross the rest of Kansas today. We were going to stop in Hays for the Natural History museum there, but the temperature rose to 108 degrees. We were worried about leaving the cat in an un-air-conditioned trailer, so we kept going to Goodland. Since we arrived early, we enjoyed a swim. Tomorrow, we’ll head home. So how was the trip? Friday, July 12, 2013.

Regular Non Sequiturs: September 2008
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2008. A (very) small plague of grasshoppers. Monday, September 29, 2008. Boot Camp - Final Day. Yesterday was the last day of triathlon boot camp. It was a choose-your-own-adventure bike ride. We had options for 28, 40, 56, 80, and 95 mile loops. You may assume that I'm crazy enough to do one of the long rides. You would be.wrong. I managed the 40 and even opted out of a "big climb" option. What this means is that boot camp successfully kicked my butt. Saturday, September 27, 2008.

swept up with dandelions: January 2013

Swept up with dandelions. Food, travel, and random thoughts of a short-retention span kind of girl. Saturday, January 26, 2013. Port jervis, ny. If you've never heard of port jervis. It's ok, neither had i until i ended up there. it's about 90 miles outside of nyc and the intersection of ny, nj, and pa. it's a cute little town (population under 10,000) and i think budget travel named it one of the best small towns in 2008. i'm not sure if they were talking about the winter time :). We ate lunch at the.
