quidquid quidquid: one of many reasons I will have difficulty getting past St. Peter
http://quidquidquidquid.blogspot.com/2011/02/one-of-many-reasons-i-will-have.html
Thursday, February 24, 2011. One of many reasons I will have difficulty getting past St. Peter. Forgive me, y'all, for I have sinned. I got into all kinds. Of mischief when I was a kid, but none quite so infamous as what we got into at the church that was adjacent to my neighborhood. If you're going to get all church-lady on me and faint over the idea of, say, kids stealing donuts from a Bible study meeting, you should probably stop reading now.). Once, we got caught trying to break into it. I tearfu...

quidquid quidquid: whateva whateva, I do what I want
http://quidquidquidquid.blogspot.com/2010/02/whateva-whateva.html
Monday, February 1, 2010. Whateva whateva, I do what I want. I roll with twelve gangs. I, like so many others, have derived some of the most essential lessons of my life from watching South Park. But amid the many dozens of jewels of wisdom I have gleaned from Eric Cartman, one stands out as the most salient. Episode 82 (titled "Freak Strike") centers around Cartman landing himself a spot on Maury. You had me at hello. I don't go to school and I kill people. WHATEVA! I do what I want! quidquid quidquid: the true meaning of "all set"
http://quidquidquidquid.blogspot.com/2011/06/true-meaning-of-all-set.html
Monday, June 13, 2011. The true meaning of "all set". Post from last month, one of many discussions on this blog about my experience as a lifelong Southerner moving to Boston. I mentioned the odd way that Bostonians use the phrase "all set.". CUSTOMER: I'll have a coffee. CASHIER: You want a donut or are you all set? CUSTOMER: No I'm all set. CASHIER: Okay that's $1.25. Money and coffee are exchanged]. CUSTOMER: Okay am I all set? CASHIER: You're all set. And on message boards. Even cites a third-generat...

quidquid quidquid: why I decided to leave grad school in Classics
http://quidquidquidquid.blogspot.com/2011/02/why-i-decided-to-leave-grad-school-in.html
Sunday, February 13, 2011. Why I decided to leave grad school in Classics. I'm really excited to be guest blogging over at Worst Professor Ever. This week. I'll be offering some advice for folks who have made the scary decision to leave university life for the big Other- life outside academia. What can I say about academia that hasn't already been said by the Simpsons? After a truly wonderful undergraduate career. And other folks- you know who you are) was all that got me through, but it wasn't enough to...

quidquid quidquid: didn't roll off the cabbage truck yesterday
http://quidquidquidquid.blogspot.com/2010/08/didnt-roll-off-cabbage-truck-yesterday.html
Sunday, October 24, 2010. Didn't roll off the cabbage truck yesterday. Photo from Awkward Family Photos. Like every good 1980s girl, I had a Cabbage Patch Kid or two. I loved them- yarn hair, creepily vacant eyes, tattooed asses and all. But I never stopped to wonder where they came from. There is actually an unnecessarily complex mythology. Creation story. And this creation story is true. In northern Georgia, there is a small town called Cleveland. In this town, there is a magical place. So some rabbit-...

Wednesday, March 31, 2010. When it rains, bake! It's been a gloomy week around here, full of raindrops and summer internship applications and bathrooms that need cleaning. E already has his summer work lined up (and some! So now I just need to convince someone that I would be an awesome summer employee. I did, however, want to recommend this amazing recipe. Labels: beautiful day in the neighborhood. Friday, March 26, 2010. But here we are on Friday afternoon! This weekend will involve sleeping til at lea...

Wednesday, April 28, 2010. What I've done, what I'll be doing. I've been working on for class is being installed on Monday, and the opening reception is Friday! Wandering the World City. I'm excited to finally see it up on the walls! But phew, it seems as though every aspect of my life has decided to get crazy at exactly the same moment. This has so far been a week of dashing between different appointments all over the city, and somewhere in there I need to find time to research, create presentations...

generally fabulous.: December 2010
http://generally-fabulous.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 1, 2010. Not sure how I should feel about this. The other night, for instance, as I struggled to stay awake, I told E to just "ask the cookie vendor" rather than talk to me. In my head, we were in the holiday market at Grand Central Terminal, and there was a guy selling lovely frosted cookies. In reality, we were in bed in our freezing cold bedroom in Queens. Six of one, half dozen of the other. A few minutes later, I started singing a variation on this classic Fats Domino tune:.

Monday, October 25, 2010. Pumpkins as people and dogs as cops. This weekend, in pictures:. This weekend finally felt like Fall. We carved a pumpkin Friday night, and Saturday we drove upstate for some foliage and trail wandering at Bear Mountain Inn. Unfortunately, the leaves don't really change colors here in NYC - they just kind of stay green forever and then suddenly one day they all fall off the trees. As a native New Englander, I miss vibrant foliage so, so much! Friday, October 22, 2010. In Epcot, ...

http://generally-fabulous.blogspot.com/2010/11/my-first-ravioli-adventure.html
Sunday, November 7, 2010. My first ravioli adventure! Another busy weekend has flown by, and now I am staring down the dreaded Monday morning once again! Ah, well, at least it was a good weekend. Friday night, E and I got right down to business with some couscous and feta stuffed peppers. The filling for these peppers was absolutely delicious even on its own! Anyway. He ended up simply scooping all the filling out and leaving behind the peppers. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. Saturday night E and I ...
