Wales' national homeless football team are putting the finishing touches to their ball skills ahead of the first ever international street football tournament. The Welsh squad is made up of homeless people from Cardiff and Swansea who initially played in separate teams in the two cities. Waters have risen further in the past 24 hours, sweeping away 16 villagers and submerging 500,000 hectares of cropland. More than 5,000 villages have been affected by the floods. Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi said the army had been called out in several districts to help the civil administration rescue stranded people.

Facts about the homeless. Sunday, September 05, 2004. Homeless centre's financial woe. A centre for homeless people in Nottingham could be facing closure after serious financial difficulties. Emmanuel House on Goosegate helps up to 130 people a day to get food and advice on how to find housing. The centre needs to raise 54,000 by the end of the financial year in order to remain open. A recent study said the amount of begging on Nottingham's streets had fallen by 85%. Homeless centre's financial woe.
