Not surprisingly in a tourist honeypot like the Lake District there is ice cream everywhere. I was planning to try local ice cream, but the first place I tried in Ambleside was closed. Later I walked down to the Lake at Waterhead. This is a booth, so no tables or chairs, but there are several benches along the waterfront promenade, with excellent views of Lake Windermere and the cruiseships.
