The Idle Hour . . or two. 214 North 6th Avenue. West Bend, Wisconsin 53095. Built in 1890, the Idle Hour was originally a stationary store. In 1906, the Haebig family moved from Appleton and started renting the building for a tailor shop. The Haebigs purchased the building in 1923 and added an addition as their business grew. A second addition was added to the back of the building around 1930. Bob Haebig retired in 1996 and sold the building to Greg Chmielewski.

the idle hour :: Welcome
Welcome to my little pub. I bought it on my birthday in October 2001 since when it has become something of a landmark in Barnes albeit a little tricky to find. ( see map. I have designed the pub to be modern and stylish but with slightly more than a nod to tradition. The walls are adorned with a huge variety of wrong-time-telling clocks, there are lots of candles and fresh flowers everywhere with a real fire in the winter and a beautiful, secluded garden in the summer.
