The Illustration Board

Wednesday, May 23, 2012. I brought three science fiction paintings with me to Spectrum Live, and I thought I would go ahead and post the two I have already photographed here. The first is 'Maintenance' which I posted the digital sketch for last year. And the second is 'Arrow'. Both fun paintings and I am starting to really enjoy working large, colorful, and abstract. Spectrum Fantastic Art Live. Here is a photo of our booth setup, followed by my part of the booth:. Over all the trip was a fun experience,...

The Illustration Board: November 2011

http://theillustrationboard.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 11, 2011. Princess of Mars Art Order (Part 2). I have decided to do another wave of thumbnails because none of the others were really jumping out at me as what I should go with. I am much more satisfied with this group, there are at least 3 or 4 that I am seriously considering. After hitting something along the lines of 'thumbnail block' I was lucky enough to get some great advice from my buddy Tom. I would love to hear what you think! Thursday, November 10, 2011. John Harris style sketch.

The Illustration Board: John Harris style sketch

http://theillustrationboard.blogspot.com/2011/11/john-harris-style-sketch.html

Thursday, November 10, 2011. John Harris style sketch. During Illuxcon he did a 2 hour painting demonstration which I attended with my buddy Arthur. And it was fantastic. He ended it with a short speech of sorts which I really connected with. I know they were filming it and hopefully it will be made available at some point for those who were unable to attend. I would love to hear it again as well of course! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The Art of Michael C Hayes.

Arthur Loftis' Sketchbook: Plein Air Materials

http://arthurloftis.blogspot.com/2013/02/plein-air-materials.html

Sunday, February 17, 2013. A couple of my friends have been asking about materials to get if you're just starting out with gouache landscape painting, so I thought I'd pass along the materials list I got from my teacher, Jackson Sze. You can see nearly all of my kit here:. The only thing missing is my artists' tape, which I just ran out of, and my portable camping stool. Anyway, basic ingredients are (from left to right):. A spray bottle to keep your palette wet. Something to paint on. I've been pain...
