The Image Seeker: October 2015
https://theimageseeker.blogspot.com/2015_10_01_archive.html
Everyday happenings.everyday choices.striving to look more like Christ. Monday, October 26, 2015. Regardless of Your Decision. Once again…I’ve got a word rambling in my head. This happens every once in a while. I see a sign or hear someone mention a word in conversation or as it happened this time…read a graphic. It’s not a word that we hear as much in October. The dictionary says that a resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something. We usually don’t make our promise, expecting to brea...

Everyday happenings.everyday choices.striving to look more like Christ. Monday, October 31, 2016. Monday Morning Memo: Off The Grid. I shared with my Facebook friends last Thursday that I was going off the grid for a few days. No phone…no watch…no computer. Anyone that knows me well knows that that is no easy task for me. The reason I was without these devices was because I attended the Brethren Way of Christ retreat for women. More than anything, it really drove me nuts not having my watch on my wrist.

Everyday happenings.everyday choices.striving to look more like Christ. Monday, December 26, 2016. Monday Morning Memo: The Morning After. If you are reading this on Monday morning…you are more than likely tired. You have survived another Christmas. The bottom of the tree might now look bare…ripped off wrapping paper may cover your carpet…and your belt might need to be loosened from all your overeating. I wonder if that’s what it was like the morning after the first Christmas. Could it be that we were mo...
The Image Seeker: November 2016
https://theimageseeker.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html
Everyday happenings.everyday choices.striving to look more like Christ. Monday, November 28, 2016. Monday Morning Memo: 'Tis The Season. 8216;Tis the season. It’s common to hear this phrase this time of year. 8216;Tis the season for celebrating Christ’s birth. 8216;Tis the season for shopping. 8216;Tis the season for gift giving. ‘Tis the season for family gatherings. 8216;Tis the season for eating too much so ‘tis the season for elastic waist pants. As a result, the memories aren’t all filled with...
The Image Seeker: Monday Morning Memo: Impacting Eternity
https://theimageseeker.blogspot.com/2016/12/monday-morning-memo-impacting-eternity.html
Everyday happenings.everyday choices.striving to look more like Christ. Monday, December 12, 2016. Monday Morning Memo: Impacting Eternity. Once again, Dan and I had the privilege last week to work at the Operation Christmas Child processing center in Boone, North Carolina. This is a trip that we look forward to each year and it always seems like the hours just fly by and before we know it…we are heading back home. This is the area where we stand and work each day from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. The first person...

AmieAuthor: Be True To Your School
http://amietheauthor.blogspot.com/2016/10/be-true-to-your-school.html
The writing of Amie M Johnson. Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Be True To Your School. I'm sure the man didn't intend to make me feel bad. It was my own fault and he had no way of knowing. My husband and I were waiting for our food at Wendy's and while I was collecting drinks and those little tubs of ketchup, an older man pointed at me and said the name of a city in Indiana. Terre Haute," he smiled. Marion," he nodded. The only IWU sweatshirt I have left is as old as graduation day and it's pretty ratty so I...

The writing of Amie M Johnson. Saturday, February 27, 2016. Friday marked one month since I started this blog. I've liked blogging more than I thought I would. It's been fun. I've learned some things and I've posted every day so far. But like I've mentioned before, I probably won't keep doing that. I really need to work on my manuscript and I've only looked at it once or twice. I've got my work cut our for me. If I can do it without giving too much away and. So don't give up on me, okay? This is one of t...
AmieAuthor: Grace Wins Again
http://amietheauthor.blogspot.com/2016/02/grace-wins-again.html
The writing of Amie M Johnson. Friday, February 5, 2016. I've been thinking a lot about something that Jon Acuff. Said a few weeks ago. He said "Using cynicism to protect yourself from the bravery that having hope requires is the sneakiest form of cowardice there is." Well, Jon was talking about setting goals and keeping goals and doing all the things that need to be done in order to achieve your goals, and he was absolutely right. What really got me, though, was that cynicism is inherently. Did you noti...
AmieAuthor: All My Friends Are Gorgeous
http://amietheauthor.blogspot.com/2016/02/all-my-friends-are-gorgeous.html
The writing of Amie M Johnson. Tuesday, February 23, 2016. All My Friends Are Gorgeous. I don't think I ever even learned the girl's name. Not sure if it was the camp where I was visiting my friend Debi or one of the places we visited for my Models of Youth Ministry class. But I remember the beautiful girl. My granddaughter's name is Hannah. Ben? My son's name is Ben! Name" No kidding. She found a personal connection with each and every child because of their names. It was beautiful. You've heard that ve...
AmieAuthor: Literally
http://amietheauthor.blogspot.com/2016/03/literally.html
The writing of Amie M Johnson. Friday, March 11, 2016. You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means. I am fighting a losing battle. Granted, I'm not fighting very hard. Just a few impassioned pleas on social media and a rant or two to family members who probably wish I'd shut up about it already. You know, the usual ways we try to save the world. But my cause is a noble one. A brave and honorable rescue mission. Free the captive! Save the word literally. It's driving me bonkers.
AmieAuthor: The Professor's Library

The writing of Amie M Johnson. The Professor’s Library. By Amie M. Johnson. 8220;Matthew, my son, what an honor! 8221; The teacher indicated a chair near his, by the fire. “Sit! Would you like some tea? Matthew smiled. “Not today. Thank you.”. A cry of warning had died in his throat. They were both defenseless against the intrusion and loss. Matthew had gazed sadly at his unfinished notes and put the book away. He and his mentor had spent the rest of the lesson in companionable but melancholy...8220;He c...
AmieAuthor: January 2016
http://amietheauthor.blogspot.com/2016_01_01_archive.html
The writing of Amie M Johnson. Sunday, January 31, 2016. It's Not About the Nail. It Really Isn’t About the Nail. Really. There's a rather satiric video floating around the internet of a couple having a conversation. The woman has a nail sticking out of her forehead. Have you seen it? Back when I saw the video I'd been reading Kay Warren's book about joy. One chapter was about nurturing joy in others. She pointed out that we feel frustrated when we don't feel heard. Why not just jump in and fix it? I am ...

AmieAuthor: Useless Weapons
http://amietheauthor.blogspot.com/2016/04/useless-weapons.html
The writing of Amie M Johnson. Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Human beings have always used little tricks and gimmicks to get what they want. How about intimidation? Temper and abuse are effective tools for sending others scurrying out of one's way. On the other side of the spectrum is charm. It may be bogus, duplicitous, conditional, and totally insincere, but it achieves a dual payoff: getting one's way and. We won't even think. To put it mildly, they did not come out the victors of those conversations. ...

In the spring of 2012, I traveled to New Orleans to photograph what I saw. My favorite part of the trip was the people–especially the street musicians. This gentleman was part of a trio (including his wife who was a fantastic clarinetist and vocalist) Their daughter kept a close eye on both her parents. The Music Goes On.
