The Inquisitive Magpie

Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Who buys rubber rain boots in July? Links to this post. Thursday, July 2, 2015. And then June slipped away into the abyss. Its a very mundane life around here. I have longed to do some artwork, but just haven't had the energy to even clean off my messy work table. I walk into the room, have a look about, then turn around and leave. Even hubby has suggested that I might not feel so gloomy if I'd create something. Wow, could he be right? Links to this post. Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

The Inquisitive Magpie: November 2014

http://theinquisitivemagpie.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 19, 2014. East Austin Studio tour 2014. Pump Project building. At least 30 artists here, I lost count. Art on fence at Pump Project. Quilt in one of the hallways. Not pieced, all one fabric, quilted. I love the colors and the birds. It is not cool to take photos of peoples artwork, but the quilter told me this is just the way the fabric came, she just quilted it. In another neighborhood, I love the colors they used on this house, and the hanging metal on the porch. Links to this post.

I guess I feel if I don't have any artwork to share, I have nothing to write about. July 2, 2015 at 6:28 PM.

The Inquisitive Magpie: We had a frosty week-end

http://theinquisitivemagpie.blogspot.com/2015/03/we-had-frosty-week-end.html

Monday, March 2, 2015. We had a frosty week-end. The news said that Friday night and Saturday morning there were over 200 auto accidents in Austin. This is the natural occurrence whenever we have icy weather. Everyone makes fun of "Texans on ice.". After the show it was still very cold, but a lot of people walked out to admire the Austin skyline, which seems to stretch out more every month, with another high-rise of lofts and retail. March 2, 2015 at 11:52 PM. March 4, 2015 at 8:17 AM. Yes, so many thing...

The Inquisitive Magpie: She who works well under pressure

http://theinquisitivemagpie.blogspot.com/2015/02/she-who-works-well-under-pressure.html

Thursday, February 26, 2015. She who works well under pressure. Well, I finally did a wee bit of artsy stuff and boy did it feel good! I've been running in circles for the past two months, and had not taken any time for making art. I did not even start a new journal this year, even though I had gotten supplies out and they have sat on my worktable all this time. The middle one is for Scott, my therapist. Left and right are for Melissa the office gal, and Mariah the assistant, who loves owls. Subscribe to...

Sooner rather than later this year, I fled the heat of Texas and headed out to Idaho. It was 95 the day I left and a balmy 60 when I arrived in Idaho. Of course since I left, we have had the coolest May we have had in Texas in several years. No matter. Here are some of the daily views from my little homestead in Idaho. Links to this post. Artis...

Runs with Scissors in Suburbia: May 2013

http://barbaradunbar.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Runs with Scissors in Suburbia. Monday, May 27, 2013. Quick trip to Anthropologie. It's been awhile since I got to the store downtown, where I helped make peaches for the Earth Day displays. Here is the finished peach tree in the window that faces 6th St. Only took a few more photos on this visit. Lamp with stitched shade. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Runs with Scissors in Suburbia: July 2014

http://barbaradunbar.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Runs with Scissors in Suburbia. Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Got around to working on a few things for the class. I cannot believe that in all the years I have done art of some kind, this is the very first time I ever made a color wheel. I kept dropping my brush, hence the smears here and there! First blind contour drawing, done in an old calendar book over gesso, so it's pretty pale, hard to draw over gesso. Of course I did that because I was afraid to start out on my w.c. paper. Duh! Runs with Scissors in Suburbia: December 2011

http://barbaradunbar.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Runs with Scissors in Suburbia. Wednesday, December 7, 2011. The Museum that is Anthropologie. Curved archway made of stretched frame of fabric. I'd love a wall of staghorn ferns. Loved this bird wallpaper. Hubby saw me drooling over this plate. I later saw him with an Anthro bag and then even later, found such bag in the car, including the plate. Bicycle wheels with clear lights on them. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Museum that is Anthropologie. Astronomy Picture of the Day.

Runs with Scissors in Suburbia. Saturday, June 28, 2014. Summer Hibernation and Taking a Class. Artfully, I have not done a lot the past few months. So I took the opportunity to sign up for a new class from Mary Ann Moss. SKETCHBOOKERY. The class starts on Tuesday July 1st. I have been reorganizing my work space so I have room to leave everything out and really concentrate on this. Sunday, June 8, 2014. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Runs with Scissors in Suburbia: October 2012

http://barbaradunbar.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Runs with Scissors in Suburbia. Tuesday, October 23, 2012. A long time gone from here. It's been months since I've been by here, so I'll just start with a bunch of Anthropologie photos, all taken over some time. First, Austin in the Domain store, a set up like a coffee shop. Coffee rings stamped on a large canvas panel. Miscellaneous displays on a trip to same store a few weeks later. Chartruese bowls, my favorite color. Hanging metal discs on wall painted with blue chevron pattern.

Runs with Scissors in Suburbia. Tuesday, April 17, 2012. With Anthropologie. When I'm feeling blue and haven't created anything.I often head off for a trip to Anthropologie. There are two in town, with a totally different vibe in each one. The downtown one is larger and has a little more of the Austin feeling. The one in The Domain is smaller and has a more upscale retail mall feel. Even though they have the same merchandise, just different design teams. Fabric/felt board behind iron bed. Runs with Scissors in Suburbia. Saturday, October 29, 2011. A Sampling of ICADS. Here's a few from September. I keep finding these cards stuck everywhere, in books to flatten them, some finished, some barely started. What's wrong with me? I am not totally satisfied with my photos from today, but here they are. The light wasn't good, maybe I should take the others outside tomorrow. I uploaded them to Flickr as well. Friday, October 28, 2011. I'm Still Trying to ICAD. I have a stack of cards that I still n...

http://barbaradunbar.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Runs with Scissors in Suburbia. Friday, November 18, 2011. But sometimes life just gets in the way of art! When there is more "life" than art, I tend to get a little cranky. Ideas are still bouncing round in my head, but the facts are, just not enough time to get them physically done. Out of balance, that's what it is. Palms reflected, and garlands in window, made of PVC pipe. Clever, but not really beautiful. However I think they would be great outside. Didn't we make these with our kids?
