Thursday, April 21, 2011. Knulliana Cincta- The Banded Hickory Borer. A relatively common beetle in Carolina springs. I tend to find them either by lights at night or on porches in between the vinyl wall pieces in the early morning. They are quite amazing longhorn beetles with a body length sometimes surpassing AN INCH! Their antennae can sometimes be more then TWICE that though, a quite impressive length. This place is so fun to search for insects in because it has lots of bushes, flowers, and dead wood. All sorts of stuff can be found here.
